Sura Korean Restaurant — Restaurant in Ulaanbaatar

At first glance, the place seemed cozy, but I was seated in what looked like a corner of the employee break room. Staff were constantly walking around me, chatting loudly, which made it hard to enjoy any moment of peace. It felt like I was an afterthought.

They served many banchan (side dishes), but each came in a huge dish with barely any food inside. It looked generous until you realized the portions were tiny and mostly decorative. The meat dishes were okay, but nothing memorable. What really killed the mood for me was one staff member a security woman who appeared completely unprofessional, fat like a saturn, with her shirt riding up and back exposed as she moved around the dining area. It was enough to take my appetite away completely.

On top of that, the service was cold and unwelcoming. Most servers didn’t speak English, which is understandable to a point, but there was no effort made to communicate or accommodate. I tried to ask a couple questions about the how food was taking so long and was met with blank stares and eye-rolls.

I have been here many times with my family before however when i went today to the encanto branch the chicken came out brown and almost burnt. I know this as it used to come out in a bright yellowish color. We asked them to switch it however the second batch of chicken was still fairly orange, more like a sickly brown color.
