Konoba Bocun stands out as a gem in Montenegro for anyone seeking authentic local cuisine away from the ubiquitous foreign offerings of pizzas, burgers and spaghetti. I rate it an unequivocal 5 out of 5 for delivering not just on taste but also on the authenticity and value.
What sets Konoba Bocun apart is its commitment to genuine Montenegrin dishes, served in a homely, tavern-style setting. The lack of hidden charges and couvert fees makes dining here a straightforward, pleasant experience. It's refreshing to find a place that values transparency in pricing as much as they do in the quality of their food.
The owner, an exceptionally candid and sympathetic man, personally served us, enhancing our dining experience with his genuine care and absence of pretension, a stark contrast to the snobbish attitude encountered in more upscale establishments. His honest interaction, advising us against overordering to avoid waste, spoke volumes about his character and the restaurant's customer-first approach. He said "it could be too much for you to finish, our portions are big" when we ordered a couple more platters, what a genuine move.
The food was a delightful journey through Montenegrin flavors. I indulged in a meat dish with sauce, while my wife enjoyed the cevapi – a local version of kebabs. The soup we started with was comforting, setting the stage for a memorable meal. I also tried their home-made rakija which was fantastic.
Konoba Bocun is a testament to what Montenegrin hospitality is all about – warmth, authenticity, and excellent culinary offerings at fair prices. It's a small, family-owned establishment that wins you over with its charm and sincerity.
I highly recommend Konoba Botsun to anyone looking to experience the heart and soul of Montenegrin cuisine. It's a decision you won't regret and a place you'll likely yearn...

While in Budva, we chose Konoba Bocun, a lovely family-run restaurant slightly tucked away from the main streets — and what a great choice it was.
We had the traditional Montenegrin dish Njeguški Stek, which was rich and flavorful. But what truly stole our hearts was the homemade baklava, lovingly prepared by the mother of the young man who served us (as he proudly told us).
Larger than the ones typically served in Turkey, this baklava had layers filled generously with finely ground walnuts, just the right amount of sugar, and a heavenly aroma of real butter. Light, fresh, and perfectly balanced — it was simply divine.
Then came the moment that made me unexpectedly emotional: I asked, almost out of habit, “Do you have tea?” and the answer was a cheerful “Yes!” — what joy!
Though it was a tea bag, it was served in a large cup with a slice of lemon and a little jar of honey. The kindness and care in that small gesture put a huge, warm smile on my face. It felt like a sweet sip of home, even if it had a hint of...
Read moreWe have visited Bocun twice during our stay in Budva both times the food and service was just excellent. It is a family owned restaurant and during your visit staff acts like you are part of this family. First time we visited our waiter made a mistake in my order, but handled this mistake in a really professional way, and delivered the food that I originally ordered in no time. This small mistake did not stop us from going there again later -as the way they handled it meant they really care about their customers, and taste of the food was really good.
Staff speaks really good English which is not that common in Montenegro. Menu is really vast so everyone should find something for themselves and prices are quite low when you compare it to their competitors.
I highly...
