Eat At Joe's — Restaurant in Dobrota

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE A TOURIST/FOREIGNER

We ordered two Cevapis for takeaway. For those who aren’t familiar, this dish is simply grilled meat sausages with chips. The waiter told us it would take 20 minutes, but instead we waited a full hour. During this time, not once did anyone come over to update us. Meanwhile, several locals arrived well after us and were served quickly. The only tables that seemed to face long delays were those with foreigners.

When we finally received our order, it was a complete disappointment. The chips were cold, the salad that should come with the meal was missing altogether, and the whole experience felt careless. What makes it worse is that the restaurant was practically empty when we arrived — there was absolutely no reason for such poor service.

It’s impossible to ignore the clear difference in how locals and foreigners are treated here. Waiting an hour for a basic takeaway, only to receive an incomplete and cold meal, is completely unacceptable.

And judging by other reviews, we fully expect the owner’s response to take no accountability — just more excuses instead of addressing how poorly tourists are treated.

Without exaggeration, but that was the most unfriendly service I've ever seen in my life. I really don't expect to be treated like a VIP but as a human. From the first moment I felt unwelcomed, the service seemed to be annoyed of me, pushed my meal on the table without any eye contact. Then I got the bill before the meal came, it was like "Go away as soon as possible!" I don't know what I made wrong except from being a tourist and just could speak english... But I'm sure a was friendly!

This place is wonderful. The food is delicious, the servings large, and very well priced. The waitress with the glorious curly hair speaks great English and is very helpful. Everyone else we encountered (over three meals) speaks enough English and is helpful enough for us non-Montenegrin speakers to get by. They take card payments. The toilet I used had a seat, toilet paper, soap and was passably clean, if not sparkling. It’s on the main road and there are no bay views. Cheap and cheerful and an easy walk from the old town.
