We went to this restaurant for a change. I'd read the reviews and thought it may be good. How wrong was I. They brought some free small starters. A small crispy spring roll kind of thing and a shot glass size of something I wasn't sure what it was, pink liquid. I overheard someone say it was pumpkin gazpacho. Both were extremely bland. I thought 'is this the way it will continue'. Our starter came. We were sharing grilled prawns. They were OK. Not the best prawns I've ever had. Came with a bit of sauce, garlic and tomatoes but you would barely know, again very bland and not super sweet prawns you would expect from an area that has a good selection of fish. The mains came. I had sole in a shallot sauce. The fish was rolled up, it wasn't very fresh, very bland tasting. The sauce was barely there on top, again very bland. It came with boiled rice that had raisins in. Really bland rice. The vegetables were OK, well the green beans were. I had some delicious butter left over from the bread and butter and added that to my fish to try and salvage it, it didn't work. My partner had the monkfish with mango and coconut cream sauce. His had slightly more flavour owing to the mango but other than that bland again. When the waiter came to collect our plates he asked how it was. Typically English we said OK but pulled a face and wavered our hand as if to say so-so. Hassan, the main waiter dealt with the payment and offered us his card, with his name on it and asked us to provide a review on TripAdvisor. He obviously couldn't read our faces, and we'd said it was just OK when he asked. I'd left half of my fish too. The service on the whole was fine but you want good food when you're paying for it. DON'T BOTHER EATING HERE. What a waste of £62.00. Date of...
Read moreIt was only the actions of one of the waiters that caused the drop of stars at Little Norway, as the night felt a little uncomfortable from this point on.
My wife ordered for her and her mother, and I ordered for myself and the kids, since we were all having the same thing. When I ordered the steaks and requested that for the kids they be cooked medium, the waiter cut me off and asked if I knew what that meant. He then spoke to my wife in Darija and said “You won’t believe what this man said. He said he wants them raw. This can’t be right lady.”
While I understand and respect the cultures of others, I don’t think this was handled well at all, and found it very insulting. It was only after my wife made clear that we were all aware of what we were ordering that he begrudgingly accepted the order.
This is a restaurant that serves alcohol, so his obvious anger at someone cooking a steak in a way other than well done, was perplexing to say the least.
When the food arrived, it was generally good, and the help from the other waiters, and restaurant...
Read moreReally welcoming from the start. We were greeted but we're left to read the menu outside, without pressure. We were seated and quickly inside this pleasantly decorated restaurant. We were brought menus and snacks which consisted of a lightly spicy spring roll and a sweet consome. Our orders were taken and drinks came very quickly. Food came shortly after and was beautiful presented. After the main meal which was probably enough food, we chose to have a sweet. Again perhaps because one of the staff fastidiously cleaned the table. I chose a coffee which came with the delightful cakes. Once finished the bill arrived promptly with the offer of mint tea on the house. Mohammed and all the staff were so friendly and efficient. They even tolerated and even encouraged my poor attempts at French. Excellent value for such a high...
