First things first, is it a 4* hotel?|No definitely not, it’s a 3| |Was it worth it?|Yes, without a doubt, I paid £600 for a week in the sun where I could eat and drink as much as I wanted from 0700-2300 and feel totally relaxed and very welcome.| |The biggest issue for me was that the main buffet restaurant was closed for building work, this had been the case since the beginning of the year, however we were only informed of this two days prior to arrival, nothing during booking. The hotel has tried in moving people into a smaller facility, which works, there are normally tables available but isn’t as nicely decorated, it was the lack of information prior that would have been nice.|In fact, the whole hotel is currently undergoing a renovation with many rooms being worked on and certain areas of the hotel inaccessible.| |That said:| |Food|No issues, I found something decent to eat at every meal. You need to appreciate that you are at a Moroccan All Inclusive, they will mainly be providing local dishes. Breakfast is standard, omelettes were spot on. Dinner and tea there is always a selection of salads, fruits, breads, soups, tagines, a couple of live food stands serving meat dishes, pizzas, and cakes. There is also a kid’s section with chips, nuggets and burgers daily.| |1600-1700 around the pool, cakes and pizza are brought out.| |You can get food from the Pool bar as well, however this is not included and you need to pay, prices are ok though and food looks spot on.| |Reception|Bit hit and miss, sometimes it would be a warm welcome and they would help you out, other times it was as though they did not want you there.| |SPA|The SPA is decent, standard menu you get anywhere, prices similar to UK. Full massage was spot on though, very relaxing.| |Moroccan restaurant|You need to book this on the day you want to attend at customer relations 0800-1200. We didn’t book into this, but it did look good when walking past.| |Pool|Open 0900-1900, plenty of time, plenty of beds, no need to rush out. The staff are great and will go around and remove towels on beds that haven’t been used for a while. They could do with a few more umbrellas though, they were being passed between people as and when they left.| |There was a selfish older couple who were next to us one day, they ran out at 0900 to grab 2 beds and a parasol, put there towels out then vanished. They came out at 1030 for a game of scrabble then vanished again until 1630. They came back, complained someone had taken their parasol sat down for an hour had another game of scrabble then packed up and left. As long as the hotel isn’t full of these types, there won’t be any issues.| |Overall, the pool and surrounding area is great, in the sun all day with a separate area for waterslides and an area for kids.| |There are 2 types of sunbeds though, the white plastic ones are very uncomfortable for lying down on, the others are a lot better, unfortunately we were 4 days in until we found this out.| |One disappointing bit is the pool bar closes at 1800 but the pool is open until 1900. At about 1700 the pool quietens down and it was nice to sit and relax with a drink as the sun went over, nice if the bar opened for longer.| |Beach|So this seems to be the only hotel along the front that doesn’t have its own private area on the beach. Plus they have got trucks and diggers on the beach outside of the hotel at the moment doing repairs, seems to be a running theme with this hotel. What the hotel does have though is its own random beach area on the hotel grounds, a sandy area with beach chairs, but to access this you need to leave the hotel, walk down the promenade, through a gate back into the hotel grounds and then you’re there, but if you want a drink you’ve got to mess about and do the reverse. Just seems a bit dis-jointed that you can’t access this from inside the hotel grounds.| |Gym|The hotel does have a gym, you can only use it 0900-1200 for some reason they charge you outside these times. The gym itself is extremely basic with machines that probably should be in a museum, but its enough to get by for a few days.|There is a water fountain down there, but I would stick to bottled, I used the fountain, drank about 2 litres worth and have had stomach cramps for 12 days now.|My fault for going to the gym on holiday.| |Entertainment|These guys work hard and always have something on the go. They start from about 1000 round the pool and finish at 2300 after the evening show. They are always coming around for a chat making you feel welcome, getting people involved. They are not pushy though, if you say no or don’t fancy doing something they appreciate it and wont drag you up. The evening entertainment is ok, you need to go downstairs into a sort of basement nightclub, there are no external companies its all run by the hotel team, they are trying. Go down and witness it, see what you think, it will give the team some encouragement.|The team in general are all really nice and friendly, will always stop for a chat and up for a laugh.| |Overall| |During our holiday we met some great couples and families, had a laugh, and felt really relaxed and welcomed. The location of the hotel is great, right on the beach with a decent promenade that runs all the way to a marina with plenty of things to visit in the City of Agadir also. The locals are very friendly and really welcoming which definitely helps in making you feel more relaxed.|It would be nice to see the hotel after the renovation and after the main restaurant re-opens, as it looked very impressive from the outside.|Again, I think it is more of a 3 at the minute, but for £600 a week that’s ok by me.| |I would definitely come back to Morocco in the future, already looking at options for next year.| |Would I come back to this hotel? If the price was right,...
Read moreFirst time at Amadil. Overall it was a lovely break and cost effective, but the experience could be even better with a few minor improvements. Booked using Love Holidays.
The main reception / lobby has impressive decor with lovely artwork, fresh flowers and inoffensive ambient music. Porter brought our baggage to the room. I stupidly bought a bottle of Evian in the shop which cost 50MAD. What a rip off! Do not buy water, they will give you lots of bottled water for free.
Our room had a sea view on second floor. A fold up bed was added to the room for our 6 year old, making it extremely small. We feel this was a bit disappointing as we expected larger room. We were too tired to ask for another room and had unpacked anyway. The balcony was nice. Great view. Added bonus having a smart TV. AC was also great.
Housekeeping was fantastic. Always had fresh towels, mopped floor, made beds, kept us topped up with toilet paper and bottles of water. The mirrors had finger prints on it when we arrived, looking a bit grubby. There were a few hairs in the bidet when we first arrived too. Hot water was okay in the shower, but you have to leave it running for a while. The water pressure is really bad. It dribbles… fridge did not work. They obliged and put my medication in the concierge fridge.
One of the hotel receptionists seemed a little odd towards me when I asked her if we could keep my daughter’s lunch for the flight in their fridge. She sent me to the restaurant and I found the manager, then he sent me back to the reception where they put it in the concierge fridge. Seemed a bit weird why she would send me walking over and back 😂
The highlight for us was the pool. Lots of areas to swim, slides for big and small kids, the kids club which entertained our daughter for hours and kept her out of the sun. Plenty loungers. Long orange towels. Friendly helpful team who will locate an umbrella for you. I recommend tipping for this of course. There was no tip jar at the bars. The animation team are brilliant, too many people to mention. But they are the ones curating the positive vibes. No pressure to participate, although I loved the aqua aerobics. Free poolside snacks at 4pm every day. Any other food ordered at the pool bar is additional cost. I saw some people get table service / drinks delivered to them. This would have been lovely, but not sure whether that’s only for certain types of guests with different wrist bands?
The Moroccan restaurant was a highlight. Fantastic music and service. Advance booking required. Skipped the fish restaurant. The buffet is okay, with enough variety to keep you interested for 7-8 days. I loved the laminated Moroccan pancakes, tagines, bbq’d fish/ meat. Coffee was from a Nescafe machine but the aroma wasn’t as bad as your typical dried instant.
I would recommend venturing to city centre and trying an authentic breakfast or lunch spots for variety. Support the local economy. Check out Tikida to rent bikes for the day so you don’t get tired walking. Walk to the marina from the hotel is an hour nearly.
Drinks are made with cheap alcohol and very sugary syrups, but who cares. They serve the Ksar wines and Stork beer like other resorts. It is possible to buy brand name alcohol (costs extra, but cheaper than UK / IE)
The night time entertainment included a mini disco which our daughter looked forward to every night. The international show and beauty pageants really wasn’t our thing. Recommend checking out the Moroccan Night, really impressive local acts.
Suggestions: why not purchase actual spoons instead of single use plastic spoons. A gelato / ice cream option at dinner would be a huge hit with kids and adults alike.
Maryam and Aimy and kid’s club team are angels. 😇
Overall it was a good holiday. We will...
Read moreReview of Amadil Ocean Club: A Mixed Experience
I recently had the opportunity to stay at Amadil Ocean Club after my original booking at Iberostar Founty Beach was unexpectedly canceled. Here’s a detailed account of my experience, covering various aspects of the hotel.
Rooms The rooms at Amadil Ocean Club are reasonably spacious, and I highly recommend opting for the sea view rooms. They offer a beautiful view of the beach and are generally quieter than the other options. However, the TV selection is limited. While the TVs are smart, there’s no option to plug in a USB or cast from devices, which was a bit disappointing.
Food Breakfast: The breakfast spread was decent, featuring options like egg omelettes, cereals, Moroccan tea, and juices. The Moroccan flatbread was a delightful highlight. However, I felt the absence of a live cooking station, which could have enhanced the experience.
Lunch: The lunch menu offered a limited choice of tagines, alongside pizzas, salads, burgers, and desserts. The BBQ was a standout, making it worthwhile.
Dinner: Dinner provided a generous selection of tagines, desserts, BBQs, and mains at the buffet. There was always something to satisfy your appetite. The Moroccan restaurant, which requires a reservation, was available most of the time and offered a good dining experience.
Drinks: Drinks were available by the pool and in the atrium. While not all cocktails were included in the all-inclusive package, the drinks were notably strong.
Entertainment The entertainment provided by the animation team was average, with performances throughout the day and evenings in the atrium. The games room was also average, with PlayStation spots often occupied. Poolside activities had low participation, although the crew was eager to involve guests.
Crew Experience Unfortunately, I experienced a sense of bias from the crew, particularly towards Indian guests.
Instance 1: My partner and I were seated next to a white couple, and the animation crew made a point to engage with every white family while ignoring us. Instance 2: During activities like archery and table tennis, the crew actively involved white guests but merely showed us how to participate before walking away. Instance 3: When I requested a drink at the bar, the bartender filled my glass and slammed it down, causing half the drink to spill on my hand. Safety Concerns There was a concerning incident during an evening performance in the atrium when an elderly woman on crutches fell after slipping on the floor. Shockingly, not a single crew member or hotel staff came to check on her; she was assisted solely by other guests. This lack of care from the staff was alarming and highlighted a significant gap in their service.
Hotel Staff The quality of service from hotel staff was hit or miss. I would like to commend Najat, Imane, and Khalid from housekeeping for their support. However, housekeeping services were lacking; they only changed towels without any actual cleaning. When housekeeping missed our room, I had to request assistance from the reception five times, and I was met with rudeness.
Conclusion Overall, Amadil Ocean Club offers good views and decent food. However, it’s disheartening to note that the experience may vary significantly based on your background. For white guests, the experience seems to be more favorable, while Asian guests may find themselves treated less favorably. If you’re looking for a welcoming environment, you might want to consider...
