The Coast — Restaurant in Essaouira

Excellent quality food, but bad manners: The place is small, but cozy, with an excellent music choice but very loud. The place does not have a toilet or place where to wash your hands. The service is quite slow, but the best is the kitchen with very tasty and good quality dishes (and small portions compared to the price). The problem was that in my face, they waiter (and at the same time I think the owner) did not want to serve a orange juice to a Moroccan man, he said to the guest that they only served meals, but just 5 minutes before he served another drink to a foreigner. I can understand they want to choose a type of guests, but this racism to my eyes. The worst; the waiter was...

Tasty food but the wait was ridiculous - you need more staff.

Took well over an hour to receive our main courses from the time we sat down. Monkfish skewers were a little charred (coincidentally how I like them), and rice and vegetables were both well cooked and full of butter. Seafood pastilla was also good.

This place has a much smaller menu than most, which presumably helps given the paucity of staff, but things would be even better if they took off a few more mains and added on a handful of cold starters. Would limit the variety of what needed cooking and help bridge...

I visit Essaouira every few months and I always make sure to stop by Mustafa’s restaurant at least once, usually twice 😅 The chicken tagine is amazing. Location is great, prices are fair.

*I noticed a lot of reviews say they waited long for their food, and yes you may wait an extra 5 minutes but that’s because everything is made from SCRATCH. A lot of touristy Moroccan restaurants cook some food ahead of time in a large pot and then just pop it in a tagine and serve it to you. So don’t hesitate to stop by this cozy vibey family restaurant for the best lemon...
