This was the best find of all during our time in Essaouira. The location, food, service and ambiance are all brilliant. If you can make it up the stairs, the roof terrace is an incredible spot to sit and enjoy the food. And the food here is simple and tasty and filling (and healthy). The toasted sandwiches, and open toast, are all delicious. My whole family found something to love on the menu, and the smoothies are all freshly made and absolutely amazing. Particular highlights were the mushrooms on toast, the souiri (sardines and peppers) toastie, and the avocado on toast - though you'd be hard pressed to find anything on the menu that isn't incredible (IMHO). We made this a main stay and visited twice more before the end of our time here. A very strong recommend if you're nearby. And well worth a detour if you're not nearby. Cash only...

Coffee & Lunch Absolutely loved my visit to Mutalat Coffee and Toast! 🌿☕ This beautiful café has a warm and welcoming vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The decor is thoughtfully done, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing coffee break or casual brunch.

The host was incredibly kind and attentive — you can tell they genuinely care about their guests' experience. As for the food, it was simply delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or lingering over coffee and conversation, Mutalat is a spot you'll want to come back to.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for great food, lovely service, and a cozy...

Mutalat in Essaouira is a hidden gem! My new go-to brunch place in Essaouira.

Their savory and sweet dishes are delicious, made fresh to order with high-quality ingredients. Sandwiches are a great brunch or snack. Very filling.

The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Great vibes, fair prices, and perfect for a quick bite or a relaxing snack. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Essaouira looking for a tasty treat. It was one of the best coffees I've had in the medina.

Mutalat is conveniently located steps from the ramparts, and if you are willing to climb four flights of steep stairs you end up with a marvelous view of the ramparts and Atlantic Ocean. The food was delicious: avocado toast, mushroom and carmelized onion toast, and tuna sandwich. Drinks were very tasty - smoothly, coffees, and tea. Service was fantastic. Hard to imagine climbing four flights to bring everything up to the rooftop! All around a five star experience.
