I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Mega Loft. When we arrived, they informed us that the animation would be on the first floor, but to our surprise, it was only available on the second floor. This was misleading and frustrating, as it ruined the atmosphere we were expecting.

We ordered a crepe and a juice, which were shockingly overpriced. Then, they insisted that we order additional food in order to attend the animation, practically forcing us to do so, even though what we had already ordered was more expensive than the food itself. The staff was not friendly at all, repeatedly asking us to move from our seats—first because there wasn’t a table available for just two people, so they tried to seat us with strangers, and then again when a family arrived and wanted to sit together.

Because the food was taking so long, we asked them to pack it before it even arrived, and we didn’t see the food until we got home. When we finally did, it was extremely disappointing—nothing like what you'd expect from a "classy" restaurant. The quality was more on par with fast food, despite the high prices. The burger bun was a ready-made one, not freshly baked, and to top it off, there was no fork included. To make matters worse, the takeaway package was very, very poor—just a cheap bag.

Overall, this was a terrible experience—overpriced, poorly managed, and not worth the visit. I will not...

My wife and I were planning to go there for the NYE party that included a 3 course dinner and gnaoua show + access to the rooftop afterwards to end the night. We spoke to Abdou on the phone, who is the restaurant manager "so he told us", and asked us to come in to the establishment to pick a table and deposit a cash advance for the booking. We came a day before the event, picked a table we liked and left. To our surprise, comes the day of the event, we get placed at a table of 4 to be shared by 2 other pple and it was placed behind a wall where the show wouldn't be even visible. We asked to see him, he never came up to meet us so eventually we decided to leave. On our way down, we cross paths with him and he offered us a free drink to amend the stiuation. We refused his offer and left.... this whole situation goes against the concept of reservation. I would also like to add that we showed up super early. Being the night of NY, obviously everything else was fully booked or not the gnaoua vibe we had in mind. A restaurant manager without a word, he assured us that he was the one handling the restaurant part of the event and Othman was the event manager. Before writing this review, we saw a similar complaint here, a reserved table of 2 does not have the same rentable value as one where you...

Genuinely the worst food I’ve had in Morocco. Do. Not. Eat. Here.

I do not make a habit of writing negative reviews but it’s important that there is a balance versus all the unbelievably positive reviews that drew me and my family to have dinner at this restaurant. It was our first night in Essaouira and it was just a 5 min walk from our Riad. We thought we were so lucky to find somewhere with strong reviews just around the corner. It was a rookie mistake.

The menu is an odd mix of sushi, tapas, pasta, burgers etc. We decided to play it safe and go for burgers - every one of our burgers had beef that tasted like it had clearly expired, with weird slices of cheap cold ham added to the burger. It was not only disgusting but was truly unsafe to eat. The manager was very kind and could see how bad it was, so he offered us a free dessert, but we just wanted to pay and get out of there. Speaking of paying, not only was the food bad, but it was expensive too at £70 for 4 main courses.

To give you an idea how insane it is to eat here - we ate lunch the next day at La Coupule which is 500m away - and it’s like being on another planet - it has fresh tasty really well cooked food. And it costs the same as Megaloft! 🤯

So if you must go here, then maybe go for drinks on the terrace? Do....

First of all we entered and headed up to the first floor (there are 4!) and stood waiting for a table for 5 minutes. Whilst one waiter was busy taking orders from a very large table, the manager completely ignored us and was talking to his friend. When we finally got his attention he had a weird and passive-aggressive response and told us we could go upstairs as there are a lot of people to serve us up there. However we had already gone up there earlier and had been ignored by 4 staff members behind the bar. The waiter we had was nice though. We had some questions about the menu and he helped us. We ordered Gambas Prawns and Merguez Cassoulet. The merguez cassoulet is a nice idea for a dish and had us excited, but was a little bit bland. It is extremely overpriced compared to even the other tourist traps in Essaouira and of course the local restaurants. It was the most expensive meal we had in Essaouira, despite only ordering two starters, a bottle of water (over 4 euros!) and a mint tea. We feel the main issue here is bad management and high prices. Not worth it. Support over independent local restaurants. We don’t want to just be mean here, as they employ a lot of staff and probably help the community, but they need to change.

My partner and I came after a recommendation from a local and I'll tell my honest feedback on the place: *Atmosphere wise: the place is sensational. I adore the different designs each floor gives with all the colors and the Moroccan attachments everywhere, reminds me of my childhood. *Service wise: we were checking out the floors and asked the bartender (which was also the waiter) if we could have a table in one of the lower floors in which he refused and told us that nobody would serve you food there and it's better to sit in the top floor so he can serve us so we didn't have a choice. The waiters seemed stressed out as we were going up we heard them getting yelled at from what seems to be the owner whom we heard being rude to a lot of his workers. *Food wise: my partner had a cheeseburger and I had an avocado based veggies dish of a sort of which we heavily disliked the food was tasteless as for the cheeseburger it was overly full with a butter-like sauce. We didn't even finish the food and went to a local shop where we had an appropriate lunch. All in all a nice place to check out if you are in Essaouira if you just wanna have drinks.
