Well this place was quite the surprise!
No literally.
My mum and I actually thought we were going to one of our favourite bars/ restaurants from our previous visits in 2023 (which is still on Google maps!).
We walked up and…couldn’t find it! Then a very friendly hostess from Mizaan saw our confusion and said, ‘Oh no! Zeitoun is not here anymore!’ and pointed to her restaurant/ bar. By this point (9pm) we were eager to eat supper so we decided to give it a shot and is glad we did!
Waited at the bar where we chatted to their DJ, Khalid (not that one!) and enjoyed a glass of Moroccan Rosé and some spicy salty popcorn and 20 minutes later, we’d been invited to an opening of a club and were having a great time.
Dohar (our host) took us to our table and we enjoyed some sharing plates including beetroot hummus, chicken labneh, kefta and a gorgeous beef wellington.
Highly recommended! Go for the great drinks, food and atmosphere and stay for the lovely Khalid, Dohar and Hamza. We’ll be back.
Ps be warned, they do allow smoking inside (as it’s inside outside) which I’m not a fan of but just decided to...
Read moreWe happened to stumble upon Mizzan and are so glad we did! We went early (5pm) and although it was quiet it was all good vibes. The decor is beautiful and cozy with outdoor seating.
Menu is shareable plates which gave us the opportunity to try many things and is clearly labelled for dietary restrictions! We shared the Samoussas, Beef Wellington, Cauliflower Tempura and Mechouia, all phenomenal. The Beef Wellington was so tender and melted in your mouth but our favourite was the Samoussas with a lamb filling, and to finish it off the chocolate harissa! Such great flavours and you can tell everything is prepared with such skill and passion. Compliments to the chef!
We must also give a shoutout to the incredible staff from the gentlemen at the front door to the host and servers. Omar especially was very helpful and gave us great recommendations! We were greeted with such kind and respectful energy and had the pleasure of chatting with Omar to learn more about Marrakesh. We are so grateful for the experience and will 100% come back next time. Make sure to add this gem...
Read moreThe place was empty when I arrived, no customers at all, but the waitress insisted I was only able to stay one hour because others would be arriving and they had made reservations. When I left the restaurant an hour later there were only four other people. I think it was very unnecessary to place this demand knowing that there would be no one else coming until much later in the evening. The menu is small plates concept where you share with other people. I ordered three small dishes and it was enough for one person. On the whole I was disappointed by the quality, yes the presentation was fantastic but the taste was not there. In my opinion the food is very overrated. Service was acceptable. Prices were high, portion size was small. Although the table looked clean, it was sticky which meant your skin was attaching to the surface and it was an uncomfortable feeling. The decor was amazing and I can imagine late in the evening the atmosphere must be quite dramatic, but I cannot...
