Stepping into Lumbini Tea Room feels like slipping into another time — the graceful colonial architecture and shaded surroundings make it an oasis under the hot sun.
For lunch, I indulged in the Malaysia fish curry, fragrant and rich without being overpowering; the fish was perfectly cooked and soaked up the curry’s spice and depth. The fried mushroom morning glory brought a delightful crunch and earthy freshness, while the Chinese pork belly curry was decadently tender, with layers that melted in the mouth.
The staff were wonderfully friendly, striking that perfect balance of attentiveness and warmth, making the whole experience even more memorable.

My friend’s Mohinga looked interesting but tasted a little watery. I ordered some paratha with beans and a huge sombrero arrived! (See the pictures) Trust me, the picture on the menu didn’t show what I was about to receive and nobody told us that it was so large… I was very disappointed but they took it back and removed it from my order. I ended up ordering another coffee and that was it. Didn’t feel like eating there. We appreciated the manager’s professional approach, though.
