Great staff, nice experience since the check-in until the check-out. The private room is very spacious and good equipped. The whole interior looks like a design by minimalist, very impressive. Breakfast is served with fresh baked egg, toast, and a local pancake. The rooftop for breakfast is just great. Sadly 1 star less because of the poor sound-proof in the private room (really poor in my opinion). I understand that this is a hostel but groups of people constantly moving and talking as usual (even loudly) outside the door in the common area after midnight is definitely not acceptable. I found it really hard to fall into sleep. One suggestion: put some signs and indicate people to consider others after mignight. Anyways, I hope this hostel with good concept can have a even better future!

Stay for a good cause and help pave the pathway for the next generation of Burmese youths. This hostel does exactly that, and more. By offering youths a chance to work and gain real-world experiences, the staff here are all Burmese youths aged between 16-22, who will complete a year of study here, including a 5-month internship here, and then graduate with a Diploma in Hospitality Management. This innovative arrangement is like a social ecosystem, so that every penny you spend here, whether to stay or dine, keeps the operations at this hostel running, and free education for the youths. Good cause aside, the hostel is conveniently located, in the heart of the city centre and walking distance to Sule Pagoda and cheap eats like 999 Shan Noodle Place.

Staying here was one of the best part of our trip. Little did we know that this hostel was actually a training ground for their students to help them gain first-hand experience in the hospitality industry and each stay will contribute to the funding of this program, providing free education to the local youths in Myanmar! Hence, the students were genuinely sincere, attentive and dedicated to ensure that we have the most pleasant stay possible. Our room was very spacious, clean and nicely set-up with aesthetically minimal and modern design which gave us a cozy vibe. Also, the location of this hostel is excellent. If you are looking for a place to stay in Yangon, look no further.

I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, booking a private room with breakfast included. While the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, there were some aspects of the stay that left me with mixed feelings.

One commendable aspect was the staff's effort in acquainting us with the current restrictions in Yangon, which was much appreciated. Additionally, the hotel's location was a highlight, conveniently close to the colonial building point and only a short 10-minute walk away.

However, there were several recommendations I would like to make for the management and future guests:

Room Type Discrepancy: Despite booking a double room, I was informed upon arrival that this room type was not available. As a result, I had to pay for an extra bed, which was disappointing and inconvenient.

Breakfast : The breakfast provided was quite basic, consisting of only 1 coffee, 2 toasts, and 1 egg. It did not meet my expectations for a satisfying morning meal.

Room Condition: The private room I stayed in could use some improvement. The roller blinds were old and torn, the room had a musty smell, and the shower in the private bathroom was disappointingly weak, leading me to opt for the shared bathroom instead.

Stairs and Elevators: It's worth noting that most small or medium-sized hotels/hostels in Myanmar have high/steep stairs and no elevators. Guests should be aware of this when making their reservations to avoid any surprises.

Despite these concerns, the highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the exceptional staff. Their warmth and dedication were evident throughout, and I wish for them to continue enjoying their work and attracting more guests...

We checked into the Hood Hostel via Booking.com @ $80 US for 3 nights. The official Central Bank of Myanmar exchange rate is 2,100mmk to one $, HOOD charges 3,000 mmk per USD, making the room cost $113.00 $US, $33.00 MORE than the advertised and agreed price quoted by Booking.com. The Manager, a Mr Thiha Aung tries to justify this by claiming Google is misinformed.||NEVER ever pay at this property, pay via Booking.com, they charge black market rates.||The whole place is minimalist, resembling a prison cell with bare concrete walls and floors, with cracks and holes in both. Air freshers are used to try to mask the dank smell of mold and damp. No kettle in the room, only a water fountain on the corridor that is broken.||Communal washrooms are a disgrace and a breeding ground for mold and mosquitoes. Private washroom is marginally better, just a...

WARNING - Prices shown on websites are false, they add charges upon arrival, charge and extortionate amount in exchange fees. Approx 0.31cents per Dollar and you cant avoid it by paying in cash. When challenged we were met with hostility, after securing international exchange rates we were shown to our rooms which were window to window with a school that is very loud all day until 8pm+, breakfast was ok nothing to rave about. We sent our clothes for cleaning and were told on several occasions in 2 hour intervals it would be ready so we spent all afternoon waiting for it to arrive (we could have visited a local attraction in the meantime) it finally arrived in the evening NOT clean and still wet, id probably have been better washing it myself in a bathtub. There are better places for the...
