Wilde Eend Bistro. A serene place away from the ear scratching sounds of the rumbling car engines one would find in the city centre. Helped by the simplistic design and beautiful trees, aiding to the same feeling you would get having breakfast in your own garden. However, your sense of peace is abruptly halted once you begin your breakfast. Ordering a Landlord's breakfast at this particular establishment is not recommended as the eggs are not cooked to your specified request, which is an annoyance easily fixed by just having them returned to the kitchen. The main concern would be the steak that sits eerily placed on your plate. With enough Fat on it to give a plastic surgeon a fright, it is a disgusting sight that can quickly turn the tables on an otherwise pleasant morning. The chef can not be commended here as the ungodly sight of that much fat still attached to one's steak is calls for major concern. In an era where healthy choices become all the more prevalent, one can't help but wonder why any modern day chef would approve this to leave his/her kitchen.
Aside from the completely unappetizing Landlord's Breakfast, the juice is delightfully fresh although you run the risk of having it spoiled by the seed pods dangling by a thread in the tree branches above your head. You are covered by a decent size umbrella but you can't take real comfort in this safety precaution as the pods came belting down on my breakfast table thanks to the slanted angle of the umbrella. Think of it like eating breakfast in your peaceful garden while bombs drop from the sky all around you. The Crossroads Chicken Salad only has one asterisk next to its name. *way too much blue cheese. The blue cheese overpowered a delectable salad and left me leaving enough left over to regret the meal.
All in all, a pleasant restaurant from an aesthetic viewpoint and one can only hope the food one day matches up to the beautiful scenery that they have created. Of course, one should remember that everyone's experience will be different and this...

My husband and I went to Wilde Eend Bistro in Windhoek for what we hoped would be a pleasant breakfast date. Unfortunately, the entire experience left a lot to be desired.
To start, my husband ordered a steak that was, quite frankly, the driest piece of meat either of us has ever seen—completely overcooked and tough. I had the sourdough toast, which was absolutely drenched in pesto and topped with avocado so acidic it was inedible. We barely touched our food.
My husband, who is not someone who complains easily, politely expressed his dissatisfaction to our waitress. Her response? She offered takeaway containers for the food we couldn’t eat. He asked her to pass on the feedback to the chef or management. When she returned with the bill, he asked what the response was—only to be told that she hadn’t actually informed anyone, but had “sent someone else” to do it instead. No follow-up, no apology, no effort to rectify the situation.
To top it all off, two male waiters behind us got into a loud argument, swearing at each other in full view of the guests. It was incredibly unprofessional and left an even worse taste in our mouths than the food did.
All in all, this was a truly poor dining experience from both a culinary and service standpoint. Wilde Eend Bistro will definitely not...
Read moreI used to love Wilde Eend Bistro for breakfast or lunch, but my recent visit for brunch left me thoroughly disappointed.
The men's bathroom was shockingly filthy, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in days, with an unflushed toilet and bits of toilet paper scattered everywhere. The smell was awful, but what bothered me even more was the number of tables with uncleaned ashtrays.
I chose this venue for its fresh air and relaxing atmosphere, but the smell of tobacco from numerous smokers lingered, making it hard to enjoy the open air. The scent of ashtrays on the tables did nothing to whet my appetite either.
I ordered the beef strips with blue cheese wrap, and while the wrap wasn’t terrible, it lacked the blue cheese entirely. Despite the big crowd, which suggests it's still popular, I can't recommend Wilde Eend Bistro considering the price they charge for the...
