Mulchowk Restaurant — Restaurant in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Visited this place in the evening to try it out. It's quiet and peaceful, good for a date. Considering the pricing though, I must say that things weren't up to the mark. You can get better food for way more reasonable pricing all around Kathmandu, especially the Jhamsikhel and Thamel areas.

Bruschetta: The worst I have had in quite some time. It was literally just diced tomatoes on top of 5 small pieces of bread. I expected better.

Wine Glazed Chicken: Came with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. It was juicy but super bland.

Spaghetti: The spaghetti was undercooked and there was no salt. Again, tasted very bland and we weren't able to eat all of it even though both of us were super hungry.

Other aspects: The service itself was good and the staff were friendly + helpful. The toilet was super disappointing and exhibited a clear lack of regular cleaning and maintenance. I went to Mul chowk resturant with my family. Atmosphere and customer service was quite good and food was alright . However, when we received the bill I saw 13% VAT added. As I came to Nepal after half a decade I had very vague idea about if I should be paying additional VAT therefore I asked the waiter about it. Waiter seemed very confused and babbled irrational reasons for additional VAT. I was not able to see manager as waiter tried to diffuse the situation with invalid explanations. When I came home and run down through the law, I picked that no restaurants are allowed to add additional VAT(legally) and is reportable in case of non-compliance. A distinctive menu with healthy and delicious options. A good proof that food from eateries doesn’t have to be unhealthy to taste good.

However the location is what is the crown jewel, the outside seating will have you sit in the middle of a vibrant courtyard with many distractions to catch the eye. This may backfire on a crowded day though, luckily when I was there, it was peaceful with little disturbance.
