This restaurant appears to be hit and miss. I read amazing reviews about this place prior to arriving in st maarten this yr but that is not what our group received. We were a group of 7 adults and 2 kids under 6. It was not overly busy upon arrival for our reservation. It took at least an hr For Mac & cheese for the kids to arrive. One of which fell asleep at the table. Another 30 mins for the adults food. Mac & cheese for kids should not take an hr to arrive for kids. Some of the food we didn’t even receive because the waitress taking our orders didn’t know her own menu. First waitress said one side with our meal but when we received our meals, it had two sides. One of which was a surprise to everyone so we didn’t know whose plate was whose. A salad never arrived. Most of us ordered lobster besides one burger plate and just a side dish for someone else. The waitress who served our food apologized and said she was called in from another restaurant to help out because they were short handed and were told the owner was out of town. This is what we were told anyways. Next was trying to pay for our meal. We were not trying to get a free meal as someone suggested. We paid our whole bill. Even the salad that never arrived. The waitress who took our orders didnt know how to ring us out either and she was the regular staff. Not the staff called in to help. Very disappointing as reviews we read before we went were very good with the exception of the odd cheesy complaint which always happens but take with a grain of salt which we did. But now that we’ve gone and returned home, it appears not much has changed according to other reviews since we’ve been unless the owner is still away and has no idea what is going on with his business which would be a shame but this is just what we were told so we didn’t have the opportunity to speak with the owner to try and make it rt. We were told someone was filling in for him but never saw him either when we asked for a manager. I would have returned for a second chance without kids even though the lobster was overcooked but reading all the reviews after we have already been, not sure I would return. Wasn’t a cheap or overly expensive meal but we shouldn’t have to speak to the owner to make it rt. A waitress or staff should see it wasn’t rt and just do the rt thing without being asked. At least comp a drink but it was and oh well so sad pay up kind of attitude from staff. We go every year to st maarten and there are so many great restaurants we try and go back to as regulars or try new ones that always pop up in st maarten every yr. Our party will move on to try another one next year. This is our whole groups opinion. Everyone else can make their own decision. We are never in a rush to eat as we are on island time but an hr to get Mac & cheese for kids is not acceptable and then finally to receive our food and is only mediocre compared to others we have had lobster at. Maybe a bad night? I don’t think so since we are reading more bad reviews since we have returned home. I really hope that if the owner is away that he is ok and will return to his business because I can see great potential with this place. We attended here January 2024...
Read moreDisappointing I have to write this review, but the servers working here on 6.25.25 refused to serve me. I walked in and asked for a table. The male bartender gave me a menu and water. I asked about the lobster. He said it was $35 a pound, at least three pounds. I didn't want that much, but he insisted they only had larger lobsters. Okay. I order a pina colada. I drink my water and wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. All the while, the tables full of yt people and couples were served and catered to while I sat waiting. Without saying a word, I got up and left. I usually ask why it's taking so long, but I didn't feel like being bothered with pettiness namely because I shouldn't have to at all. For context, I'm a Black american womxn who frequently travels solo. In a lot of places in SXM, Anguilla, Saint Kitts, Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean, solo Black womxn are not served, ignored or treated poorly by staff. It's not just internalized anti Blackness, but a resentment of the freedom, independence and confidence solo Black womxn exhibit when they travel. Beautiful, confident Black womxn not attached to men, don't want to be or not desperate to be attached to men are seen as a threat. And because a large part of Caribbean society is conservative and judgmental at its core, especially of self sufficient womxn, it's no surprise that the workers on this night of this establishment adhered to this silent patriarchal coded script. I won't be coming back here. Sucks, cause the food is really good. I've been here before, like twice, so the treatment I received from these workers is really bizarre. Well, I was with a man the first time, so point proven! And before it's assumed, it was not that busy. When I was walking out, one of the servers stood at the bar and watched me leave. So the treatment was deliberate. Black womxn: don't spend your money here. Try Lee's Roadside or Skip Jacks. There are plenty of other places to take...
