Ninh Binh Amersfoort — Restaurant in Amersfoort

We came back here after 7 months to try their new menu, this time new dishes surprised us even more. As a Vietnamese, besides traditional dishes, I tend to looking for new modern tastes of Vietnamese cuisine, and they did perfectly in combining the traditional and the modern in Vietnamese cuisine.

The food were so delicious, these are dishes that I recommend: The best is Bò ngâm mắm: beef tenderloin marinated in fish sauce with chili oil, served with shrimp crackers and salad. Tôm sốt trứng muối: Salted egg shrimp served with rice. Vietnamese Ceviche: Smoked sea bass fillet with Vietnamese wild peppercorns with a light lemon sauce and salted lemon cream cheese. Chả cá Lã Vọng: Sea bass fillet marinated with turmeric, served with two sauces: turmeric powder, dill and green onion. Vịt nướng: Grilled duck breast with Vietnamese chimichurri, Thai basil and garlic. Vietnamese steak tartare, minced beef tenderloin with lemon and coriander, served with shrimp cream sauce and fried dumplings. Bánh khọt: Vietnamese mini pancake, crispy and one bite dish.

It's fusion style so portions may be smaller than usual. Another big plus is service was quick and the staffs were super friendly and helpful. Cocktails were also...

The good: This was my second visit. High quality and tasty food, fairly small portions but quite filling. Nice cosy atmosphere. If you are going here on a date try to be seated at one of the high tables near the bar as the middle of the restaurant can be a bit noisy.

The not so good: We dined in on a Friday and repeatedly struggled to get the staff’s attention to place orders or ask questions. They were friendly, but we had to ask twice about the second half of our drink order and it took over an hour for our food to arrive.

That would be fine if it was a one course meal, but the staff recommends that you order 3 dishes and then order a second round if you’re still hungry. We were, but didn’t have the patience anymore to wait that long for it to...

Beetje mixed feelings bij Ninh Binh, omdat de banh hoi echt treurig was... de Pho was echt goed (neem wel de grote, want de kleine portie is echt bedroevend klein). De soep was erg goed op smaak en de beef plakjes waren nice. voor de rest heeft het restaurant wel nice sfeer (wij zaten alleen wel op het terras, omdat het 20 graden was...maar als je binnen zit is het zeker geen straf) mooi verbouwd dat zeker!

De Banh hoi is niet aan te raden...portie ondermaats en je betaald 11 euro naja...kijk maar naar de portie op de foto's...ik had het echt in een paar happen op (ben wel medium/grote eter) schandalig om hier 11 euro voor te vragen voor wat vermicelli (ik dacht je wel iets meer zou krijgen) + een beetje kip en wat groenten...ik ben daarna serieus nog even naar Taco bell gegaan om me vol te vreten (wilde niet nog meer mijn geld spenderen aan snacks...om weer teleurgesteld te raken met de porties). Ik zag trouwens ook geen Bun ofzo iets op de menu kaart...misschien was het omdat we een lunch kaart hadden...geen idee...

Serveerder sprak alleen engels (opzicht geen probleem), maar wel iets om rekening te houden...aangezien helft van de terras gewoon Nederlands tegen de waiter sprak...hij kon het wel verstaan, maar antwoordde altijd in het engels terug.

Zou ik hier nog eens terugkomen? misschien wel...maar dan alleen voor de Beef Pho...de overige hoofdgerechten zijn op portie niveau ondermaats naar mijn idee...veel mensen die bij de Vietnamese komen nemen geen 3 gangen ofzo...je wilt gewoon direct aanvallen met de Bun vermicelli of de Pho en als de porties dan tegenvallen dan voelt het niet echt bang...
