Du Monde Bar&Kitchen — Restaurant in Amstelveen

We arrived at 12, were immediately seated at a table in the corner, and got service very quickly. The dark chocolate latte macchiato is absolutely to die for. And it's available in oatmilk instead of cowmilk, which is fantastic. Next I had the "Kannibaal uitsmijter" which translates as "Eggs a la Cannibal". In this case (fortunately) this means 3 eggs, sunny side up, with roast beef and ham. The option of glutenfree and lactose free bread was there, so I took it. I didn't have to compromise any of my food intolerances or allergies. The bread was delicious, and very crunchy. We also chose to have a bottle of water to share between two people. By the end of the meal we were both very full. The staff is wonderful and very friendly and the atmosphere is what the Dutch call "gezellig" and there just isn't any good English word for it, the music is varied, I even heard Pavarotti! Had lunch here for the first time and my wife and I selected the " Noons" ( 12 uurtjes) fish and meat from the menu. Both where very good . Good portions,fresh ingredients, well prepared and tasty. The onion soup came without gratinated bread on top which was a pity. In general i found the service acceptable but not really friendly. The staff did not really engage with the guests, more robotic and going through the motions rather than guest focused. Found the restaurant in general a bit dark. Would i return? For the food yes but service needs to change. Wheelchair accesibility is ok but there is a doorstep that requires some efford...

Zero hospitality (below happened several times…)👎🏻 We went to restaurant for Valentins Day. We sent an e-mail for a table next to window and we received a reservation confirmation e-mail. When we arrived we have been sent to a table next to kitchen which is under smoke.
