We had Sunday lunch unlimited oyster arrangement, which is 35 euro inclusive welcome drink paid in advance while booking. So, the concept is 'unlimited' oysters from 12 till 16 for 4 hours, I joined a couple of times before in Oost location and it was good. But today, it was a huge frustration. The first round of oysters came in 3 oysters per person, second round is 2 per person and from then on 1 per person or actually nothing. You have to wait for ages so that they decide to bring some more oysters. When we asked more, they started having a bad attitude, ignoring constantly. So, in 4 hours duration, we couldn't even achieve to eat 10 oysters per person. The waitress started acting annoyed, she totally ignored our table even though she was bringing bbq oysters with a huge tray for everyone, next table etc, we got nothing. When I asked the reason, she answered in a sarcastic way and said there is a plan in the kitchen and we were not included for that round!!! Well, all in all, it is not worth the stress, annoyance, irritation, and in the end I can get a piece of oyster for 3 euro everywhere with a better service and attitude. In addition, they brought butter and bread in the beginning without asking or warning, we thought this was from the house, we noticed we were charged for that as well in the end! Since we were so hungry and there was no oyster served, we ordered one more bread and butter, and extra bread, these were all charged!!! I will never go to this place again and I am not recommending it. Moreover, this place filled the bottles of a nice liquid soap brand, which is my favorite and I know exactly how that soap looks and smells! with some cheap soap, such a cheap, unprofessional attitude from...
Read moreThis week we went for lunch at Bar BAUT. Booking was effortless via the website. Upon arrival, the reception was welcoming and informal—the best variant of casual. The interior is modern chic and made of the proper materials. It has the warm, trendy glow that you find in most new fine dining establishments today. We could choose from two tables and chose a large round table. The host immediately came to ask what we wanted to drink and whether we had any special wishes. The drinks were immediately on the table, and we looked at the menu. We noticed that they offer a lovely selection of fusion dishes. It's hard to choose because they creatively describe them. We both chose the Tom Kha Kai soup and a grilled vegetable salad. Since neither of us drinks alcohol, I cannot comment on the wine list. The soup came through quickly and was served in a beautiful stone bowl to go with such a soup. The taste was marvelous. The best Tom Kha kai soup I've ever eaten. With a subtle spiciness and a nice amount of fresh vegetables. The broth was simply outstanding. After the starter, it took some time for the grilled vegetables to be on the table. We liked that so we can have a chat. The dish was a bottom of excellent butter lettuce topped with beautifully grilled flavorful vegetables. On top and underneath the salad, we found a great hummus—another success. A healthy lunch at this level that is also wholesome is hard to find, but this is. After an average cup of coffee with a good cookie, we settled. Including tip, we paid 40 euros for the soup, grilled vegetables, and two cups of coffee. All employees, including the kitchen brigade, took the time to wish us a good day. A very successful day, partly thanks...
Read moreThe ambient was very nice! The interior is unique and portraits a mix of an alternative, artsy vibe but in a very high class way. The Pinot Grigio we had was fine but not outstanding and the same goes for the food. It’s a shared dining concept (like every other restaurant in Amsterdam at the moment). The portion sizes are fine. They recommend 3 per person but we shared 3 in two and it was more than enough. We had vegan croquettes as an appetizer and they were nice but again, nothing too special. As a main course we had the roasted cauliflower, which was a bit over spiced for my taste and the fish soup. Firstly, the two things did not harmonize at all, which is not necessarily the restaurants fault but I do think the staff should be able to recommend or comment on this, given that it’s a shared dining concept. The fish soup with mussels was good in taste and with plenty seafood in there. Service was friendly and attentive but it took very long for the food to arrive and to shift from starter to main course even though it was not really that busy. Overall I can say it was good but nothing too special and for the prices I think it’s not be best...
