Brasserie De Serre — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I previously had an orange juice here, but today I was craving a cup of coffee. I asked the server if the coffee was good, and she assured me that, as an Italian, she finds it excellent. Trusting her recommendation, I ordered an oat milk cappuccino.

The coffee arrived within a few minutes, but it was extremely bubbly and tasted terrible—I couldn’t even take a sip. When I mentioned this, the server casually said I could “take it away,” which led me to believe she would remove it from my bill. However, to my surprise, the barista, an older lady, approached me and defensively stated that she has been making coffee for twenty years and that her coffee is always the best. I was genuinely shocked by her attitude.

The milk was clearly burned, and it made me wonder if they’ve been serving coffee like this for two decades. The experience was both disappointing and offensive—very poor quality and even worse...

This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. It was one of the first places my partner and I went to when we immigrated, and we now go at least weekly. Why? Besides the amazing food and coffee, it feels like family. This is a family run restaurant, and it shows in the love that goes into every dish and the way they treat their customers. The owner is greeting people by name, Zoey (main server) is cracking jokes with well known visitors, and even the kitchen staff give a friendly wave when you come in. I don't have to be homesick because I have this place.

The pictures shows what I ordered and what I have received after almost 2 hours waiting. This is really taking the piss out of people. I was not expecting 5star restaurante but for 19 euro I would expect at least something home cooked instead of a 2 Euro frozen meal from a discount supermarket. This is embarrassment for Portuguese food. Please remove it from the menu and stop offering what you can’t delivery.

*edit: after reaching for the delivery service to place a complain the feedback was no compensation given as they serve everything fresh and properly made. It was obviously not the case for this dish and leaves me without any curiosity to try the...
