This place is suitable when you want to hangout with friends for drinks and chitchat. The food is just OK but I give 4 stars because their special dish of the day is good. Our speciality of the day we visited was burger and it tastes better than its look. We ordered 2 desserts which are cheese cake and apple pine. The apple pine was the special dessert of today and it comes out very good. Thin flour, big pieces of apple and just right for the sweetness. We received only one dessert and waited really long for that. When we asked about the remaining one, the staff mentioned that itā€™s sold out but nobody mentioned anything to us when they served our first dessert. The bill came out and they still put 2 desserts in it which is really lacked of attentive. The staffs are friendly but the service is very slow.

In conclusion, it has potential but food has nothing special and itā€™s too expensive. Waiters donā€™t care and are not even able to remember if you donā€™t speak Dutch.

The place is nice to sit. Beautiful environment. The is a bit weird with no specific theme. You can have a variety of dishes from burgers to Vietnamese or Dutch croquettes. I went 3 times and the service is extremely slow. More than 25ā€™ to get their noon combo when we are maximum 3 tables in the room. The portions are very small. 9.5ā‚¬ for 1 croquette, a slice of bread and half a glass (yes a glass) of soup is excessive. Went to Cafe de Walvis with a couple of friends for an inpromptu dinner . The ambiance is dim lit and rustic ,as the dutch say 'gezellig'.

The service is decent, pleasant waiters inquiring your well being and taking your order. The menu is not exhaustive but has enough options to choose from. I went for a veggie burger with salad and fries. The quantity of food is quiet a lot for the price. One of my friends had a Boeuf Bourguignon. She being french said it was nothing like the authentic dish, but nevertheless she loved it and wiped the plate clean.
