Nestled close to Westerpark, Freud Restaurant is a delightful find. Its calm ambiance was a nice wrap to our Sunday stroll. The quirky yet refined decor adds to the cozy feel, making it a comforting retreat. We opted for the standard course; the variety in starters was pleasing. The shrimp dish was a standout, cooked to perfection. As for the steak, heed the chef’s advice on meat doneness for an ideal experience. The restaurant is cashless, there is no signage in English indicating this and the server never told us. The food was delightful and reasonably priced, but the server was HORRIBLE and so unprofessional. Once we finished our meal the server sat down and started talking to me like I was a friend from the streets or something... it was embarrassing. Then we went to pay cash and the server said that Americans and Canadians are idiots for only liking cash. He kept swearing at us and calling us idiots, making us feel incredibly unsafe. I have never experienced such poor service at a restaurant...

Very nice restaurant! The food is good and the service is excellent. But what truly makes this place extra special is that it's a social enterprise integrating people with sensitive backgrounds back into the labor market and society. I loved my experience and fully recommended it.

Btw, the restaurant is easily accessible by public transport. It's 10 min away from Amsterdam Central Station. You can take bus 22 going to Station Sloterdijk, you get out 5 stops (stop is called Assendelftstraat) later and it stops like 100 meters away from...
