We were lured in by the stylish ambient, vintage lamps, and the faint scent of patchouli – the classic signs of a place trying very hard to be "authentic" and "alternative." The kind of spot that serves oat milk lattes in chipped enamel mugs and charges €14 for avocado toast with “ethically foraged” microgreens.
We came with 4 adults and 3 kids. No children's menu, no possibilities to get plain pasta or something normal kids would eat. not even a polite smile. "The chef doesn't like it" was the answer. The staff looked visibly annoyed when our kids dared to exist. One waiter actually sighed when we asked if the kitchen could slightly adjust a dish. “We don’t do substitutions,” she muttered, as if we’d just asked him to rewrite the menu in Sanskrit. Meanwhile, every table around us was full of people nodding profoundly over €7 kombucha while pretending not to notice the family clearly ruining their vibe.
In a place that screams "community" and "inclusivity" from its hand-painted walls, the lack of basic accommodation for families is telling. Maybe they're inclusive—as long as you’re over 30, childless, and dressed in linen.
We left hungry, a bit embarrassed, and completely unwelcome. If you have kids: avoid. If you don’t: still avoid—unless you enjoy paying a premium for irony and...
Read moreDelightfully funky place. Some safe sand and water play for kids and a few ride-on toys. The two pigs are enormous and a great attraction for our two year old grandson (they are safely fenced but you can get up close to them.) We just had two coffees, a kombucha and two croissants, which came to around €18, which, as a visitor to the Netherlands seems about average. The good being delivered to other tables looked very appetising.
All ordering is done through a phone app from your table, using a QR code to access the app, which takes the order and payment and identifies your table for delivery. A tip for parents of small children: if you need milk quickly, the best way to get it is to purchase through the app and then go to the serving area to pick it up, as orders can take longer to arrive than small people are prepared to wait!
There is indoor, outdoor and undercover seating. They seem to put on a number of events. While we were there a band was warming up with a very good rendering of "Still Crazy After All These Years."
All in all, a great...
Read moreWe arrived at 7pm and was told it is fully booked. But, we saw there were 8 tables available outdoor and it was pretty much empty indoor. We asked if we can sit at the outdoor table until someone came. We asked if we can order something and eat at the park next to it. The waitress said straight that we cannot sit there, and we cannot takeaway food and eat at the park.
We have been sitting at the park, and did not see those tables were filled. It is extremely rude and unfriendly to us with a young boy looking for something to eat.
The kitchen is closed at 9pm. We did not see those tables are fillef up in time before the kitchen is closed.
We told three ladies who were on the same ferry there that you do not need to make a reservation for the restsurant. They got a table to sit down and eat, but we got rejected. It was a super sunny day and we felt our day was ruined by their...
