We were looking forward to visiting this highly rated venue with my niece and nephew from Canada. We came by car, which seems to be a problem. We did not know where to park and after driving past this place a few times following Google maps' directions, we found an area with parking bays in the vicinity. However, all the parking spots were taken. This was at 14:00 on a weekday. I wanted to call Proeflokaal, but could not find their telephone number anywhere on their website. Only an e-mail address is provided and the website is not very informative. We were extremely disappointed and left without being able to visit the proeflokaal. Who needs more than that, while enjoying one of the most beautiful parks in town? The gins are from Oorlam, the spicy young ones from grain, wheat or rye, the older ones in different grades of sweetness. Read moreA hidden gem tucked away in a park far from center city. Wonderful Jenever selection poured by a knowledgeable staff. Lovely spot to enjoy some peace and sip some drinks. Quite a tranquil spot with seating indoors, amongst the trees, and along the pond. Some snack options, beer, and Jenever available. They also sell Jenever bottles if you find one you like.
Be prepared it's a 5-7 minute walk from the nearest road with no signs providing direction.
