Coffeeshop The Stud — Local services in Amsterdam

As a local I can truly say they fall short on maintaining hospitality in every sense of the word. I used to sometimes sit at this coffeeshop. Until the “security guard” started to ask my ID. And as a local I know coffeeshops do this to scare people off or to avoid tourists. I passed by again and now it’s only for members but the list to become a member is full. The funny thing is that the shop wasn’t full. Avoid this place at all cost as that same security guard who denied me entrance was always scanning what I was doing when I sat down. The exclude people they don’t like or fit their coolness.

Yesterday the girl didn’t even asked me to choose which bag I wanted and it’s not proper buds. All with garbage to scam people.

Never been to a coffeeshop in the neighbourhood I grew up in for that matter that is so unfriendly and passive aggressive.

I have been to many local coffee shops you could learn from. Seeing your defence reaction and the fact that many others don’t ask an ID. As they trust their returning guests and the fact that you are using laws to bully people away.

Of course security guards scan around but this was in a very different manner. When was there mostly as I was coming around new. To now acting like I never did.

Your shop was empty that day for me to smoke with my friend. I showed up with my ID yet I still was denied entrance. Never had a coffeeshop so arrogant with stick up their selves to only allow members.

In a neighbourhood with blue and white collards people you act as if you are Boerenjongens. Not even them with true household internationally and the many tourists visiting don’t have an only member policy.

You willingly exclude people to mantain your “vriendjespolitiek” not in line with the morals of the city. Barmhartig and heldhaftig are nowhere to be found.

Even the son of the owner is being mentioned as a scammer with his big gold chain

Also the other reviews of rude staff members speak volume. Since you don’t care it’s in line with the energy...

My boyfriend and I are spending two months jumping around in Europe and Amsterdam was our top destination from the get go. Before we got to our Airbnb we stopped at the Stud, and we were hooked until literally the morning of our next train. The Stud is local, there are regulars there that mind their business, but upon spending a week with them we learned so much and got to know so many people— which is what it’s all about. The staff and regulars have an amazing relationship and family vibe that drew us in and made us feel welcome. Even as American tourists, we felt at home. Not only are the staff&regulars amazing but the Stud offers a multitude of refreshments and snacks that keep you going, best latte in Amsterdam, I can’t even lie. Their prices are fantastic, quality is amazing, and you can tell that there is attention to detail in all areas. Don’t go to this shop to be crazy or have a stereotypical “night in Amsterdam.” Meet the locals, get to know their take on history and life because this place is for the intellectual, chill, & kind. I have been visiting Amsterdam for nearly 30 years & the stud is by far the friendliest coffeshop I have ever visited. We were greeted by one of the hosts John, who found us a seat in the smoking area & provided us with rolling papers, tray etc & made us feel at home. After seeing my son was wearing an Ajax shirt John & the locals told us a bit about the club & showed us the ajax memorabilia on the walls. The smoking area is nice and cosy with a computer & volcano vaporiser you can use. The quality of the weed here is top notch & is amongst the finest I have ever smoked in Amsterdam, the prices are very good & must surely be amongst the cheapest in town. The Ice cream cookies, Cherry gelato, & Enemy of the state we're very nice. I highly recommend the Golden Tarantula pre-roll (it's a work of art) smoke this bad boy with caution though as it can destroy even the most hardened toker 🤯 😂.
