Outstanding restaurant -- Deserves a Michelin star I'm a tourist and found this place through Trip Advisor reviews. I'm always a little skeptical of these reviews because I never know if they were "placed" by the restaurant itself. But I am from Chicago and have absolutely no connection to this restaurant, so you can be sure that this review is real. Wilde Zwijnen is incredible! The quality of the food and the service is absolutely top notch. I've eaten at many Michelin-starred restaurants, and this one is easily worthy of a star. There are 3, 4 & 5 course set menus, nothing a la carte, with optional wine pairings. I did the 5 course, and my wife did the 3 course, menus with wine pairings -- she helped me with my two extra courses. The wines were mostly unusual varietals, but paired beautifully with the various courses, which were all nouvelle cuisine "chef's surprises," every one of them interesting, tasty and beautiful on the plate. My 5 courses were a fish, broccoli with caviar, asparagus soup, fowl and dessert. This brief description doesn't do them justice, but each course was delicate, intense and delicious. Everything about this place was great. The service was wonderful, and it was less expensive than what I would have expected from the quality of the preparation. My 5 course meal was only 59 Euros. The only drawback is that the restaurant is a 10 minute drive northeast of the central district of Amsterdam. Our Uber ride there was 17 Euros. But our 3 hour dinner was more than...

This place has been on my list for awhile - friends of mine even hyped it up. But it didn’t really live up to my expectations.

We had a reservation for 4, and it seemed to be a busy but not too bad. The terrace was half full and the inside completely empty. Still, despite making eye contact with three different servers and even straight up waving one down to ask for menus we didn’t get any. After forty minutes of waiting we sent a brave soul from our table to scavenge one.

We ended up going with four courses and 3 arranged wines. Wine often came 15 minutes before any food was served. It was delicious, but poorly timed.

We found the courses to be underwhelming, often lacking depth or complexity. the first was a cured fish dish, the second borscht gazpacho. The only real winner was the main meat dish of the evening. A saving grace (and again with a very complementary wine). The dessert on the other hand really could have scaled it back. It was some sort of deconstructed cake accompanied by a mouse that was basically just your grandfathers strongest port. Not my thing - and we all left that behind on our plates.

Four people, four courses and three wines each puts you back at around €260 after tip so pretty reasonably priced. Might give it another shot in future going just for a main instead of letting the chef surprise. We seem to have...

We were looking for a restaurant that serves locally sourced modern Dutch food, and found this place. There’s no menu online so we were intrigued. The staff were absolutely lovely and so welcoming even after we discovered that I had messed the booking time up, and we were late. We were not sure what to expect but we ordered the chef’s tasting menu with matching wines and wow, I’m so pleased we did. You also have a choice as to whether you prefer not to have meat, and you can choose fish or vegetarian options instead. To start, we were given delicious breads with whipped brown butter - totally unexpected but wonderful, then we had a white fish with buttermilk and herb sauce, a ravioli with nut crumbs and a delicious cheese sauce, then perfectly cooked venison with a potato cake and spring vegetables. The wines were from around Europe and matched beautifully with the fabulous food. Unfortunately we were short on time so we didn’t get to try dessert or cheeses but since we will definitely come back here, we’re looking forward to being completely surprised next time. If you’re after something completely different, give this place a go. Also, we’d never have gone to the neighbourhood where this place is, so that was a bonus, because it’s beautiful and we’re looking forward to exploring that...

I stayed 3 min walk from this place and decided to have dinner with a friend of mine. Normally, it's best to reserve (call or sometimes email). But this time, we just walked in and ended up getting a table, and there were other tables available, but 5min after sitting, the rest of the tables filled up. You can select from the various options on the menu, or opt for the chef's surprise 3 or 4 course menu. We had the 4 course chef surprise menu ofcourse for 37 Euro. A bottle of red wine for 21 Euro. Can't beat the price. Each course is really good, not too small, not too big. It's a surprise so they serve whatever the chef decides to serve that day. Our first 2 courses were fish dishes, and they were delicious. One of them was cod, but I forgot the first one. Main course was veal, and it was done just right. Last course is desert; I like Tiramisu, for whatever reason, but they didn't have that on their menu. So I had their surprise desert, which was good as well. Service was fantastic, really good people, and they also speak English. Some of the pictures were taken after I ate part of it, especially the first course and the desert. I took 2 pictures of the main dish, the Veal. They were all good, trust me.

Wilde Zwijnen offers an intimate and unique dining experience, perfectly captured in its rustic charm and meticulously crafted dishes. The warm, cozy ambiance set by candlelight creates an inviting atmosphere. One of the standout features is the wooden tables, inscribed with hand-drawn chalk names, adding a personal touch that enhances the overall experience. The food is as thoughtful as the environment, starting with beautifully plated, creative dishes. One of the highlights includes a delicate combination of seasonal vegetables paired with refreshing flavors, topped with intricate garnishes that showcase the kitchen's attention to detail. Another dish featured a rich and perfectly cooked meat entrée, balanced by hearty lentils and a smooth purée, emphasizing a commitment to both texture and taste. Wilde Zwijnen clearly prioritizes fresh, local ingredients and a thoughtful presentation. Every plate tells a story, making it more than just a meal but a full culinary journey. The service complements the meal with attentive yet unobtrusive staff, making this a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality, flavorful dining in a relaxed setting.

Our evening at @wildezwijnenrestaurant in Amsterdam was marked by a chef's menu featuring sustainable game, seafood, and vegetables. There were a variety of dishes, starting with Cod cheeks fried in quinoa with tartare, and complemented by homemade bread and caramelized butter. Our absolute favourite dish of the evening was the scallops - served with watercress and an apple emulsion. It was an exquisite blend of flavors. Unfortunately, the mackerel mousse and grilled mackerel with fried capers did not quite meet our expectations. Another standout was the duck, which came with homemade cream cheese, asparagus, and sea lavender. The meal was rounded off with a rhubarb dessert with basil oil and crème anglaise, an interesting end to the night. While the food had its highs, overall it didn’t really hit the mark in several ways. Also, despite booking months in advance, our seating arrangement wasn't ideal. We were placed across the road in a less appealing section and squashed onto a table for two (there were 3 of us). For a price tag of $100 per person for 5 courses, it felt a bit steep considering the overall experience
