Had a great evening at Olido. They serve fantastic local Italian specialties and we enjoyed their Sapore di Campagna as starter to share with a group of 4. We then took the Margherita and pizza of the week. We've ordered multiple times already from Olido as take-away but their pizza are much better to be eaten on site. Their style, preparation and technique used for their dough is fantastic and for us, one of the best. Both pizza's didn't let us down and we really enjoyed them. The pizza of the week was a heavy one but all ingredients were superb and complemented each other. Don't forget to leave the “cornicione” (outer crust of the pizza) as "my dessert" and let it soak with some olive oil to finish. I prefer their spicy olive oil so don't hesitate to ask for that one if you like it spicy.
Great ambience and friendly hosts even though during busy moments. We were able to try two types of wine. Smentia Barbera (2015) and Lu Cuntaden (2020). Smentia is a rich strong wine with full of flavours. I personally liked the Lu Cuntaden more which is more fresh, bit fruity with a sweet finish. According to the host, Lu Cuntaden is produced limited with only +/-600 bottles a year and coming from the Abruzzo region next to Rome.
Overall, a great experience and finally being able to eat at this...
Read moreI've had this place saved on my want to go list for a while and finally got around to going last night. We got a sharing plate to start, which had various types of charcuterie, cheeses and vegetables, along with some focaccia and it was delicious and the ingredients of a high quality. We all got pizzas for our mains and I demolished mine in no time. I got the el diablo which is slightly spicy and had nduja on, which I'm a big fan of. Nice flavour to it, as did the dough. Service was good and prompt, even though they were very busy. As a lover of natural wines, I've never been to a restaurant that has so many by the glass before. They ask you what you like in a wine and will give you a try of it first and encourage you to tell them if you don't like it, which is very refreshing. I had a glass of orange to start and then a glass of red and enjoyed them both. Afterwards I tried a glass of cynar, which I've never seen before and is made from artichokes. I enjoyed it and it reminded me a bit of Fernet Branca. The only thing that I didn't like and why I'm only giving it four stars, instead and five, is that they charge you for water and this is a pet hate of mine personally. Overall though I enjoyed it and...
Read moreIf I could give this place 10 stars I would! I went on a Monday night with my girlfriend, which was a new for Olidò since they’re started off closed on Mondays. Because of this, we had the restaurant to ourselves while we were there! This gave us a chance to meet the owner of the establishment, Enrico.
Enrico made us feel so welcomed. It didn’t feel like he was our waiter... It felt more like a friend who invited us into his home and was offering us food. He was very personable and his passion for the industry was evident. We were unsure what wine to get, so he took it upon himself to give us a wine samples of his favorite wine from Italy. He’s an amazing guy who I cannot wait to see again!
We got the burrata, two pizzas recommended by Enrico, and the cheese cake. My tastebuds have never been happier. One of the things I love about traveling is trying new food. I concluded that Olidò’s provided the best burrata, pizza, and cheesecake I’ve ever had! The freshness and quality of ingredients is top class. The combination of ingredients mixed together so well to make some of the tastiest food I’ve ever had.
If you’re in Amsterdam, check this place out. My favorite restaurant in...
