I ate here with my colleague. We have eaten at the goldfazant before and it never disappoints. It is a business that is located in Amsterdam Noord and was one of the pioneers in Noord. Beginning of the rise of north this restaurant is already in north. The restaurant is always full so if you want to eat there I recommend to make a reservation. The restaurant is known for the design, location but especially for the good food and good wine list.

The food here is top. We had 3 courses. As a starter I had the tomatoes with smoked eggplant, consommé, basil and almonds. Really delicious! Sizzles on your tongue. Main course was the seared leeks with portobello, poached egg, gruyere and pangrattato. And lastly the famous heavenly mud. Besides the food, the wines are also super good here and this is also definitely a must have.

The staff is very friendly. There are young waiters walking around but they know very well what is on the menu and what kind of wine you are looking for or should drink with your dish. If you want new water or bread you can always ask a server if he wants to bring some more.

The design of the place is great. It is quite minimalistic and the location itself provides the decor. It was an old car garage where classic cars are still on the bridge today. Simple tables and chairs and a a large lamp made of bottles in the middle of the room upon entering and art on the wall. A nice atmosphere for dining.

In the restaurant there is no music during dinner. The voices of the people eating there make the atmosphere.

All in all, a must if you like good food and good wine. A classic where you must have eaten...

Mixed Feathers at Hotel De Goudfazant

The setting in a converted industrial hall is really special – stylish, unique, and full of promise. Unfortunately, the experience that followed didn’t quite match the ambiance. Our table wasn’t ready upon arrival, so we started at the bar. A pleasant enough wait, with genuinely friendly service – at first. However, as the evening unfolded, it felt like we were part of a relay race: no fewer than four different servers attended to our table, and with that came the inevitable confusion. A staggering 55-minute wait between starter and main course? That’s not slow dining, that’s just poor coordination. When the main dish finally arrived, it was delivered by someone new again – and clearly unaware of what she was serving. While the conversation at our table kept spirits high, the impression was already dulled. By the time we asked about dessert, the kitchen was closing, and it showed. The request was taken with all the enthusiasm of a tax audit – bordering on rude. Not a great note to end on. That said, the food itself was excellent, and the natural wine recommendation was surprisingly delightful – even for non-fans. In the end, De Goudfazant left us with a beautifully set stage and a performance that simply didn’t follow through. A little less chaos and a bit more professionalism would...

First of all, Google, it’s not a hotel! It is an amazing, fine dining style French inspired food.

In a typical French fashion, this restaurant’s main offer is a 3 course menu (starter, main, dessert) for €45, and each course has 5-6 options (fish/seafood, poultry, pork, calf/beef, veg or so). It is best value to get a menu, but you can also order each dish separately.

Portion size is not as large as in France, but still decent. They also serve unlimited homemade bread with butter with no extra fee! So you won’t starve. We loved everything we got, the food definitely did not disappoint!

The interior is very unique and hip in a casual way. The place is large, located in a former industrial building with high ceilings, and has a nice river view. At busy times it can be rather loud to have a conversation.

Service: We had to wait for our order to be taken, but afterwards the dishes were brought to us rather quickly and with a smile and attention. It was also a cold and windy day, and the only available table was right at the exit so it was cold, but as soon as another table in a better location became available, the waiter offered to move us and we agreed. Very much appreciated!

Overall, if you don’t mind lively loud places and like well-made French style food, I definitely recommend this place. We...

Mixed feelings about this place. Food was very good. Service was fast and friendly but as apersonal as it gets, completely no feeling of genuine involvment with the table. Might've just as well ordered from a tablet. Didn't check if the food was okay during dinner and just pushed the dishes though without asking if we want to continue to the next course. This ultimately resulted in having to wait for the bottle of wine while the main course was already there, and we were left with half a bottle of dry wine at the dessert. Wine list okay, but inconsistent and mostly balanced towards light fresh wines which limits gastronomic potential that's definitely there. You can taste all the wines sold per glass. Which was good because most wines were underwhelming or just too flawed, even for a natural wine. It's a shame because natural wine can get so good. Bit stuck in the unexciting dogmatic part of natural wines, like most of Amsterdam actually. Despite all this the vibe was okay. Must have been the food bringing smiles to the faces of the guest, because it definitely wasn't the involvement off the waiter. Maybe it wasn't her day. Would only go back for the amazing food.
