FERRY has made it in 2025!
Last night marked our second visit to Ferry (formerly Pont13) in the past 2 months, and I’m happy to report it was every bit as delightful as the first. We began with two starters: silky smoked eel on crisp toast, and golden-brown bacalhau pasteis. Each bite balanced rich, smoky flavors with a light, flaky texture—an elegant prelude to what was to come.
For our mains, we both opted for the BBQ butterflied whole dorade. Expertly grilled, the fish was tender and moist, with just the right amount of char to complement its natural sweetness. To accompany our seafood feast, we chose the Le Trois Dames Saint-Véran Chardonnay 2023—a wonderful match.
Dining on the converted historic ferry, with its sun-drenched terrace overlooking the water, with extraordinary view on REM, added an unbeatable charm to the evening.
After dinner, we made our way to the aft deck for cocktails—and they were the perfect grand finale. The inventive mixes, paired with the gentle lapping of the water and the company of great friends, made for an utterly memorable night.
We came in hoping that a second visit wouldn’t disappoint—and it didn’t. Kudos to the chefs and the service team: you clearly know your craft, and you’ve transformed Ferry into a true gem in our Houthavens neighborhood. We’ll most certainly be back. Highly recommended!
Old review: (2024)
Ferry Amsterdam, located in a 100-year-old converted ferryboat in the Houthavens, is a welcome replacement after the departure of Pont 13. The atmosphere is fantastic; the interior combines nostalgia with a modern touch, and the staff is particularly helpful and attentive.
The menu offers a variety of flavorful dishes. The locally caught seabass from the BBQ was an absolute highlight, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The mussels in curry sauce, part of the daily menu, were delicious. The dessert, Quindim, was slightly less impressive but still a worthy conclusion to the meal.
However, there is room for improvement. The price-quality ratio is a bit on the high side. While the dishes are delightful, you might expect a little more for the prices charged. Additionally, Ferry could benefit from closer collaboration with local producers, such as the wine shop on Spaarndammerstraat, to create an even more authentic and sustainable offering.
Despite these points, Ferry Amsterdam is a fantastic spot for a cozy night out with delicious food and a worthy successor to Pont 13 in...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Ferry Restaurant yesterday, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. Located in an old Ferry, the restaurant offers an exquisite blend of international and European cuisine that delights the senses. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance struck me as both elegant and welcoming. The tasteful decor, soft lighting, and comfortable seating create a perfect setting for a memorable meal, whether it's a casual dinner or a special occasion. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exceptional hospitality of the owner, Robert, and the culinary mastery of the chef, Diogo. Both of them contribute significantly to the restaurant's unique charm. Robert’s warm welcome and attention to detail made me feel like a valued guest from the start. His passion for the restaurant is evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Chef Diogo’s culinary skills are simply amazing. Each dish I tried was a testament to his creativity and expertise. The menu at Ferry is diverse, offering a delightful mix of flavours and ingredients that cater to a wide...
Read moreThe best meal we had over our 2 weeks in France and the Netherlands. The staff was extremely warm and welcoming, the atmosphere was perfect and the creativity and flavor of all the dishes was phenomenal! The smoked eel over polenta cakes, octopus and flank steak with bone marrow and chimichurri were extremely memorable, but all of the dishes we tried were delicious. At one point the restaurant got a little smoky so they had to turn up the vents, which caused my steak to come out cold, but when I notified them they took it right back and had a perfectly cooked steak out to me in minutes so I could enjoy my main course with my family.
They re-opened about a year ago with a new identity and a chef who shows his passion in every dish. I can’t say enough great things about this establishment, when in Amsterdam I highly recommend making this a destination for a wonderful meal...
