Where to even begin, what an amazing experience! So much more than ''just'' fantastic food! BEST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD

Me and my partner walked to Jun last weekend. No reservations, on a Saturday, we were that silly. We walked in and asked if they had a table free. I could see that they were struggling and wasn't convenient but they worked really hard to accommodate us and eventually the manager got us a seat in less than 5 minutes. In my opinion, this was already incredibly nice. These days restaurants don't try too hard to accommodate unless you have a reservation, which I understand since they are so busy, but when Jun did, was a lovely surprise. Then, the staff... the manager was fantastic, very smiley, very bubbly, was going around interacting with the tables. It didn't seem fake or forced, I feel like he was genuinely having a blast. The chef was equally sweet, came to greet us, serve us the food, explained how to pair the food with the sauces, he really had love for his dishes. Finally, the waiter, a young gentleman with dark hair and blue eyes (wish I knew the name) was also very pleasant, made sure we were enjoying the food and had everything we needed. Having said this, none of the personnel was suffocating or pretentious like in those fancy restaurants where you actually feel overwhelmed. It was a refreshing mix of fine dining with caring and humble personnel, a great atmosphere. Last but not least, the food. My god the food! I won't say much besides the fact that was very authentic, very flavourful Indonesian cuisine. The portions were great and we were VERY full when we left. I really liked that they had this set menus and we got to experience all those different flavours. Jun can't be overstated, from food to staff to inside atmosphere/decoration, wish I could give more starts. Genuinely the best experience I've had in a restaurant in a...

Wow, I can't believe this place has such high reviews and how completely wrong the google reviews are. Nice setting, good service but man the food is really nothing special. My family is from south east Asia and I live in San Francisco so have had lots of exposure to south East Asian food. This must have been the worst experience and way overpriced. Really nice people but now I know I can't trust google reviews. In this case, yelp was more realistic. Vegetable stir fry was so bland and tasteless yet the beef rendang was overly salty. The chicken sate was just like the thai style ones with peanut sauce except the thai ones are way better. Beef rendang can't even compare to beef penang. The fresh spring rolls don't even compare to the Vietnamese style rolls since they totally lack aromatics of herbs and simple use the sweet chili dipping sauce. The ones in pho restaurants are half the price and taste better with nearly the same ingredients. What a total rip off and really poor taste in food. No locals go here, no Indonesians or even local asians go here. Only tourists, mostly Americans such as myself who didn't know any better but to trust reviews on google. Big mistake and we regret wasting a meal here when we have so little time in Amsterdam. I can't believe local Indonesians don't demand...

We had the rice table 1. It was kinda surprising that it only has 4 dishes. One starter and 3 mains. One veggie one chicken and one beef. Comes with rice offcourse. Variety wise i have been to other places which had a lot more to offer than Jun. I would say even with low number of dishes I left full. Which is great and didn’t feel the need for many dishes. The reason for 3 stars, is the lack of flavor. All the dishes were kinda ok. Not the flavor bombshell Indonesian restaurants I am used to in Amsterdam. I believe the reason for that is that they cater mostly to local Dutch and have made the flavor suiting their needs. Nothing bad with that approach as the restaurant was jam packed and buzzing. Service is good too. For me the highlight was the sambal that came with the dumplings. An average dinner experience taste wise, but worth a try if you want a good experience...

Visited in May 2022. Very nice owner. Servers were also friendly. Rice table (Rijsttafel) has less expensive kids price, which is nice. Based on my limited research (checked several restaurants’ websites), I didn’t find other Indonesian restaurants offering reduced kids price for rice table. Their cocktail menu had about 7 offerings. For a non-alcoholic drink, their home made Indonesian iced tea was really nice (I think it had ginger, lime, etc). Shrimp chips with the dipping sauce was served first (I think it comes with the rice table), and it was delicious! You can choose an appetizer as a part of the rice table. We really enjoyed Soto Ayan (chicken soup). The rice table itself was great! I would recommend white rice over yellow rice. White rice goes better with variety of dishes.

Got the rice table vegetarian version for the two of us. You can choose soup or salad per person, we did one of each and they were good. Then you get 6 dishes for the main course. We only really liked two out of the six, so what sounded like an exotic experience was only mediocre. Perhaps the meat rice table version, or regular entrees would be better. However, we enjoyed the company of the people who worked there. From seating us, taking our orders and taking their time chatting with us in between meals were much appreciated.
