Waroeng Soerabaja — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I had takeout the other night, and it was absolutely delicious! The owner is super friendly, and he gave me some spicy kroepoek to try. They have a wide selection of kroepoek, in my opinion these are the most authentic kroepoek I’ve had in Amsterdam.

I had the fried rice base with crunchy tempeh. The tempeh was super tasty and had a nice sweet glaze on it. I had both flavors of the cabbage stir fry to complement the dish. Overall it was a nice combination of flavors.

This will be my go-to Indonesian takeaway for sure! I can’t wait to go back and try all of the dishes.

Stumbled upon this place on our girls trip to Amsterdam and had a great meal! We wanted to try the rice table that Amsterdam is known for but everywhere else was booked up or extremely expensive. We had a wonderful authentic meal here and the owner even shared dinner with us. It was wonderful to exchange cultures (one of my favorite parts about traveling:) and get to know Amsterdam through the eyes of a local. He had great recommendations too....

Don’t miss out on their homemade sambal! It was so good 😊 I had the coconut/tumeric rice with tahu/tempe, some beef and an egg and everything was very tasty 😋 My experience was already pleasant before trying the food, had a pleasant chat with the owner too about Egypt and how to get some Indonesian food in Berlin.

If I lived in Amsterdam I would definitely come back for more!
