Must-visit Southern European Style Restaurant
Eetcafé Edita, named after the grandmother of owner Anna, brings the warm, welcoming atmosphere ✨ of Southern European food and drink culture to Amsterdam’s Jan van Galenstraat. Edita offers a cozy, living-room-like setting reminiscent of a French great aunt’s home 🇫🇷, where hospitality and good food are central 🍽️. It’s the perfect spot for aperitivo with delicious bites like oysters 🦪 and oeuf langoustine, or a long, relaxed meal with friends. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion 🎉 or just enjoying an Italian beer 🍺 or Spanish wine 🍷 , Eetcafé Edita is a must-visit. 🔝

Read moreWhere to start; we were so excited to have a new restaurant in our hood. All started off well with some nice starter and main where you could taste creativity as well the freshness of the products. The duck was cooked to perfection!
While sitting down it started to get smokier and smokier…first we thought it was one off meat frying clouds, however it got worse throughout the night. Our whole clothes smelled really bad as well our hair. The extraction hood seems to not be able to work as much as it should, I would have preferred not to sit next to the kitchen really.
Unfortunately that wasn’t the only reason why I would give this place more time to learn and grown. The desert arrived and we’re not edible at all. One tasted like a whole pack of salt fell into and the mousse was whipped to be a butter consistency. I hope the chefs taste test the food? It didn’t feel like it.
Hoping you really take the feedback on and can make this restaurant something...
Read moreEdita is such a cosy spot with wonderfully friendly waitstaff, and the food is delicious. The dishes are delightful, though perhaps they could use a touch more richness with a bit of oil or butter to really bring out the flavors. The duck, in particular, was phenomenal—probably one of the best I’ve ever had!
One suggestion I’d make is to consider spacing the tables a bit more. It’s a common challenge in Amsterdam, but the close seating can make it feel crowded and noisy, which takes away from the relaxing vibe of the space. With a little more room, the warm, inviting atmosphere could really shine, and guests might feel more valued and at ease.
We genuinely enjoy the restaurant and share this as open-hearted feedback because we think Edita has so much potential to become even better. Thanks for creating such a...
