Walt — Restaurant in Arnhem

This morning was the first time visiting Walt. A cafe that came to Arnhem by Walter who wanted to have his own cafe and provide the people of Arnhem a place to come together and enjoy a tasty (Coffee, tea, juices, etc). I had the pleasure of having the Red Velvet cake which was very good.

I gave five stars for the following reasons.

1. Coffee - The french press latte I had was very nice, the milk could have been steamed a bit longer but otherwise was very good.

2. Food- I enjoyed a red velvet out of the bakery options. This was very nice and cannot wait to test their apple pie.

3. Location- The location of Walt is located right in the city center and is easily accessible.

4. Atmostphere- The cafe is very cozy and provides a sense of calm. The light wood table tops and the couch were a nice touch. The cafe is definitely unique.

5. Staff- The staff is excellent and friendly. They are knowledgeable about the the drinks (coffee and tea) that they serve.

I wish Walter and all the staff of Walt the all the success. I will be a returning...

Een vriend wilde hier graag een taartje eten met een drankje. Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat toen ik aan kwam lopen dat ik het er aan de buitenkant niet heel aantrekkelijk uit zag zien vanaf de winkelstraat. Het terras zag er een beetje simpel en sfeerloos uit. Toevallig kwamen we ertegenover op het terras een gezamenlijke vriend tegen die ons vertelde dat de taarten bij de Walt erg goed zijn. Dat haalde me sowieso al over, maar toe ik dichterbij kwam en naar binnen kon kijken zag ik dat het binnen juist wel leuk ingericht was en een leuke sfeer had. We besloten er dus toch een taartje te gaan eten. Ik had een chocolade ganache taart en mijn vriend een soort boterkoek. De smaak was prima, maar ook weer niet extreem bijzonder. Misschien dat ik er met te hoge verwachtingen binnen kwam door die vriend. We hebben daarna samen een stuk tiramisu gedeeld en ondanks dat ik er eigenlijk niet zo'n fan van ben van tiramisu vond ik die ook erg lekker. De bediening is erg vrolijk en aardig. Ook hebben ze grappige profesioneel uitziende schorten aan wat het helemaal af maakt. Overal om je heen liggen boeken en er zijn ook spelletjes. Op de tafels liggen ook kranten en Donald Ducks, dus ook alleen zou je er prima een keertje kunnen gaan zitten. Ik wil er nog wel een keer terug komen om ook de andere taarten eens te proberen. Wel moet ik zeggen dat we naast een deur zaten naar wat ik denk het opslaghok, daar liep wel honderd keer iemand in en uit en die deur maakte ook best wel een herrie dus dat vond ik wel irritant. Daar zou ik dan ver vandaan gaan zitten de volgende keer.

This has got to be one of the best (if not the best) espresso bars/cafes in the entirety of the Netherlands. I frequent this place, so I might be a tad biased, but I have never had a single complaint about Walt. Although a handful of items on their menu might be on the more expensive side for some, the consistent high quality of service, their delectable beverages, and the homey atmosphere more than make up for that.
