Il Limone — Restaurant in Breda

I really wanted to like this place. The staff are nice when you talk to them inside, but ever so inattentive when waiting tables, you end up waiting for them instead and going to them inside to make your order, otherwise no orders taken. And this was not in a peak time, mind you, we were literally the only table at the front. And even that would have been salvaged if only their food made up for it. But. It. So. Did. Not. The cannoli were an abomination, the shell was soft and sticky and forget the crunchy shell, the inside was harder than the outside! The taste was non-existent due to high sugar, giving an artificial chemical aftertaste. And lastly, the price: I've never paid this much for a slice of dessert even in specialized patisseries - 7.9 for a slice of cake that really was not much in volume and nor yet in taste (though better than cannoli which is not saying much). Beware and save your money...

If you want a fake and utterly snobby Italian experience that feels extremely pretentious and unwelcoming, then go to Il Limone. While the waiters and waitresses are mostly Italian and very hospitable, the management (present in the restaurant) are rather ostentious and unwelcoming. It seems that the concept of "Italian" is overly stereotyped with superfluous decoration, posh dressing code and through the poor waiters staff's nationality. The chicken was good but the rest of the available dishes don't do any justice to Italian cuisine and its simplicity yet complexity. They are just an untasteful take to Italian gastronomy. If you can't really value the depth of Italian gastronomy, and you'll just be happy with carpaccio or some Parma ham with your overpriced wine, then just go there (it seemed to be what most people were ordering...

This relatively new restaurant and Italian market is something else. Clean, well-designed, and properly served regardless the tables being set very close to each other. The dining experience is superb, real Italian food is served using real Italian ingredients. I found the concept of being able to buy the ingredients you've just enjoyed as part of your served plate innovative and helpful. If you are in Breda-Netherland you owe it to yourself to...
