If you are in Curaçao, this is the one restaurant you don’t want to miss.
The atmosphere, service and food were all excellent, albeit the prices were a bit high.
Pink stucco walls, slate floors, fast paced Latino music, lights and plants dangling from crossbeams, MosaCaña Bar & Kitchen is a popular and busy venue for Saturday night. Unlike other restaurants, they have an abundance of waitstaff to provide timely and relaxed service; everything looked organized and efficient. Social and lively atmosphere, tapas were meant to share. Every dish was prepared to perfection. All were unique and tasty with lingering flavors. We enjoyed the dining experience very much.
We tried 5*Brazilian wheat Leopoldina beer. It was light, low alcohol content, sweet taste. We loved it.
4.5*Cauliflower Frito: Fried cauliflower was crispy with a caramelized layer outside, mixed with cilantro, red chili pepper, sesame, and soy sauce. Delicious !
5*Burrata: very fresh and melted in the mouth. Pickled Fennel jam really added flavor to the dish .
5*Rum ribs: tender meat inside and crispy caramelized layer outside; created a nice balance of texture and flavors.
4.5*Clams with Red Curry, Coconut, Cilantro, and Grilled Focaccia: unique tangy flavor, existing combinations of lime and chili with a healthy dose of cilantro. The sauce was great for dipping. The only complaint:l ots of clams fell out of the shells and were nowhere to be found in the bowl.
5*Bao buns crab: very creative mix of kimchi and pickled cucumber with the tempura soft shell crab. Both added volumes to the flavor and texture. Very invigorating dish.
5*Scallops: scallops were tender, green Paksoy fresh, pork belly was crispy, with a tasty, creamy...
Read moreThis restaurant is outstanding! Probably the best meal we have ever had on our travels. Everything was top notch and so flavourful. Be sure to make a reservation. We were in Curacao the end of February/beginning of March & were very fortunate to get in on 24 hours notice for a party of 8 at 6pm. By the time we were halfway through our meal every table was full. Love the sharing concept because it allowed us to try many dishes. Each couple ordered 3 dishes to share (1 couple ordered 4) and everyone had dessert (& then my husband added 2 more orders of churros to go for snacks later at the villa where we were staying). We were full when finished - even our big appetite sons in law! The fun was in having some of our own dishes but then passing them around so others could try them if they hadn’t ordered the same. The ribs were the best we have ever tasted - we ended up ordering a second order for the table & same for the cauliflower. Plan to take your time. Service was good, especially considering the concept - multiple dishes which come to the table as they are made - don’t know how the friendly young server kept track - it’s like grazing for foodies for 2+ hours. Churros were how churros should taste but frequently don’t at other places. Every dish was excellent and we tried quite a few. Is it a special occasion splurge? Definitely. (It was a birthday celebration for one of our girls so we picked up the bill - which, with currency conversions and tip - half of us had a cocktail, others a fancy mocktail - was just shy of $800 CAD). Was it worth it? Absolutely! Still dreaming about it and would go back in...
Read moreThe staff was incredibly rude! Actually one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in my life. We told the server many times before our meal everything would be separate and we would not be sharing our food. When we asked for separate bills at the end the server blamed us, said we “never” mentioned this, acted like it was a huge deal that’s never been done before and even raised her voice while being rude telling us off. All for separate bills…? Lol. We had to separate the bills for her and do the work ourselves instead of a normal restaurant server apologizing for her own mistake, going around the table and asking people what they had. We had to do this while she recruited another rude lady came just to stand at our table with her arms crossed to give us dirty looks while we did this and tried to pay. After waiting 45 minutes for her after this ordeal, our taxi had been waiting and one of our friends tried to ask her where her change was (after waiting 20 minutes); the server yelled again, saying she was “very busy because of us” and that we “have to wait.” It was actually shocking how disgusting their behaviour was.
Not to mention the food for the price is unbelievable. Around $30USD for ONE HALF of an octopus tentacle cut into three pieces overcooked and rubbery. The ceviche was all cilantro and no other taste. The bao’s were…okay. But for the prices?! Never. Again. Ew.
Do not come here because the female staff has a serious...
