The (hotel) breakfast is awesome. Many, varied dishes. I had an arepa with chicken and beef (the BEST ONE). Egg burrito is also great, but ham quesadilla feels missing everything (both inside and outside). I didn't like the tuna arepa, but left curious on the pancakes and omelette.
However, dinner menu is very disappointing for a tourist. The hotel is a bit remote, and yet the menu leans towards expensive while having almost nothing local, besides a funky fried banana as side in some dishes. I mean, I didn't come to a resort in Curaçao to have pizza, pasta, Caesar salad or a burger lol Although there's a seafood option in all of these categories, and also ceviche and pokes, which are nice... I'm still missing pastechi, funchi, asorted sodas, awa di lamunchi, keshi yená, bolo di kashupete (instead of traditional cheesecakes, tiramisu or a cinnamon roll for desert)... I mean, LOTS of options, none on the menu 🤷🏼♂️
Bottom line: if you want a nice dinner and is not THAT lazy, go to Mambo Beach. More options and almost as expensive as here. Didn't took two stars at once because the staff is...
Read moreOur group ate at this restaurant twice during our stay in Curaçao. The first time we brought lion fish that we had harvested and the chef made us an absolutely amazing ceviche dish with it. The presentation of the food was as beautiful as the food was delicious. Diego and his staff went the extra mile to ensure we had an amazing meal coupled with starters and great drinks. We canceled our reservation for a different restaurant to eat here again on our last night.
Ordering purely on the menu the second time was also an incredible experience. Two of us did the wine and food pairing. Diego gave us a presentation of each wine pairing and an explanation of complimenting and contrasting wines paired with our food. Suffice it to say that everything was beyond delicious and I would put the restaurant, food and presentation in the top 3 culinary experiences of my life! Thanks team Olas for making us at home and sharing your amazing food! We will be back for sure.
Pictured here is the lion fish ceviche. Best I have ever tasted. Pictured here is...
Read moreThis is the best dining experience I’ve had in the four nights I’ve had dinner in Curaçao. I have to admit, I was walking to another place when I heard the singer playing one of my favorite songs and I stopped to listen. Olas has good reviews but there was a place with slightly better. As I’ve been here dining, I’ve seen other guests stop to listen, as I did, then come in. Maybe we were all in search of a quieter scene than on Mambo. (I think they have live music most nights.)
I had the gazpacho and shrimps au gratin. The gazpacho was flavorful but needed to be blended more or put through a finer sieve as there were hard bits (possibly cucumber seeds) that I had to remove from my mouth. The shrimp was cheesy deliciousness with a sauce makes the potatoes amazing. I was not impressed by the potatoes at first, but put them into the piping hot cheese sauce and [chef’s...
