Sam Sam — Restaurant in Enschede

Ordered the Shakshuka at midday, the restaurant was pretty quiet but the girl who served us was lovely and helpful. The Shakshuka was green style opposed to the traditional tomato based which is different to what we were used to but ordered it anyway. When we received our meals of course we were surprised as it looked more like a green vegetable curry than a Shakshuka. The soup bowl the curry came in was cold to touch and the green curry was also luke warm. My friends eggs were half cooked with clear egg goop encasing it. We did not finish our meals and nor were we asked after receiving them if our meals were okay, some training here is necessary for staff to go back to the customers to see if they are enjoying their meals or if their are any issues. After a while, Still no-one has come back to check on us even for more drinks we decide to leave our half eaten meals and pay. When informing the gentleman at the counter he tried to justify everything we voiced to him and offered he no apology as dissatisfied customers. We were not looking for free meals just acknowledgement and to voice some constructive criticism. Sat here for a drink when all of a sudden some weirdo on the square throws a beer bottle our way. It smashed apart again some glass separator right in front of us which prevented anyone getting seriously injured, but the sound was crazy and everyone realized it could have been much worse. Anyhow. Shocked people and shattered glass everywhere (including on our table). Staff came by to ask what happened, literally looked at all the glass, then left.

After ten minutes surrounded by shattered glass the vibe was long gone so I went inside to tell them that we were leaving and asked them for the bill. I also mentioned there were tiny pieces of glass everywhere (and that they were probably in our drinks too) and recommended to clear the tables around us (to prevent that people would accidentally swallow such a piece of glass).

Worst money ever spent for a drink we didn't even drink for safety reasons.

Location & Service Sam Sam is located in the city center of Enschede. The outdoor space is headed towards south. Therefore, on a good day, sun is included and shines directly in your face. The service is quick and attentive towards the costumer. The space between seats is to narrow. The rest room are okay, but soap was not filled.

Food & Beverage We ordered a simple Cappuccino and Latte Macchiato. Loved the detail: A small chocolate was delivered on the plate. The beverage itself were tasting just right. Not spectacular, but not watery or bad.

Couplebility The location next to the church at the lively place would have the potential to be the best spot of the town. Unfortunately, the narrowness is a stress factor. You can hear the tables next to you loud and clearly and that is a big problem, that could easily be solved.

All in all SamSams is a normal Café with quick service. A nice spot, that could turn bigger, if some crucial decisions...
