1983 Gouda — Restaurant in Gouda

Excellent experience. I always judge a bar based on 5 factors and 1983 scored high on each of them: Music - Most Dutch bars either Don have any music or poor music sense. 1983 Gouda had a very good vibe due to good music. You can enjoy in people's company or by yourself too Drinks - Yummy sweet and sour cocktails. Highly recommended Food - Surprisingly good food which is more than just bread and cheese unlike most Dutch bars (especially the ones that just serve drink and then you don't know what to do if you're hungry) Seating - There was terrace seating, inside comfy seating, work as you enjoy your coffee seating and your own little party gathering exclusive seating. Staff - Very cute and interactive staff actually. It's a new establishment as I understood and everyone was happy and smiley.

After being told by multiple restaurants in the area that their kitchen was closed and they were only open for drinks, at around 5pm we stumbled upon this cafe that not only reassured us they still had cooked food available, but provided us with all-round fantastic service. They offered to join 2 tables together when they thought the table we were seated at might be too small for our group, assisted us with ordering food on the Dutch menu, and even paused some of their work behind the bar when they thought it was creating too much noise for us. They were also kind enough to add Gouda cheese to our ordered items (sandwiches and a burrito) when requested, and the food was delicious.

We were there for an evening with a large group of people on a Friday evening. Their cocktails are absolutely wonderful. My absolute favourite is Imported from Colombia (if you like coffee).

Extremely prompt service. As I said we were a large group so we were constantly asking for something and the hosts were very kind and quick.

The highlight for me: food available all night. Few of us weren’t hungry as early as 5pm. But we had the option to order and eat later in the night. I cannot stress enough how wonderful that was, to not have to go and look for food after a night full of drinks. free water! Most bars charge a significant sum for water. It was refreshing to see a bar that gave us water whenever we needed it.
