Do not visit this establishment if you are a black/brown/ foreign/ colored person. It is catered entirely to a select group of people and you'd be as good as chased out if you're not aligned to the preferred "white dutch" clientele. I went twice, the first time, after waiting to be seated for 20 minutes and seeing other white couples being seated and having their orders taken, my boyfriend and I left. We put it down as them being busy, although others who arrived after us were seated.
I decided to do a drink there again today, around 10.15 pm, and popped in as the place was relatively empty. I sat there for 15 minutes, while the waiters bustled about taking the orders of others. I even made eye contact with a waiter who then went to take the order of the couple beside me. After 20 minutes, I was prepared to leave when a group of 4-5 Dutch people sat 2 tables to my right. Within a minute, a male waiter was on them, taking their order. A female waiter walks towards me and I pick up the menu, prepared to order.
She says to me "I already did the last call, you cannot order anymore"
I say, "i can't order a drink? Even though I've been sitting here for 20 minutes?"
She says I can't. Last call was done.
I say, "So I cannot order a drink while the table next to me is ordering drinks?"
She looks me straight in the eye and says, "You cannot sit here for so long without ordering a drink."
This is the point where I sigh so loud I want to scream.
As I leave, the table next to me gets their drink order typed in and I can only conclude that the Belvedere doesn't want to serve a certain group of people.
Also, the food, from what I saw, (as I wasn't allowed to taste) looked like steaming hot boiled garbage,...
Read moreVery good experience in Gouda! Our waitress Josien did such a great job, we could not possibly ask more of her. ♥️ We had dinner on Saturday evening, outside by the fire, on the non smoking side of the terrace. Usually there is no such non smoking option so we avoid outside areas, but you can find it here! 🚭 Our order was the burger (they made it gluten free for one of us) and the cheese soup. Both were delicious, specially the burger. It was not the best burger I had in my life but it was clearly made with good ingredients and prepared precisely well. 🍔 We had gin tonic, which was as good as expected. 🍸 Thanks to the chef, Josien and the other waitresses for the good...
Read moreWe had a very nice first evening in Gouda. We came as tourists from Germany and as we saw the restaurant we thought, why not go in? Well it was a good idea. The service was extremely friendly, providing us with German- Menus and trying their best to translate. All in all the Staff was really friendly. The Ambiente was also nice, at least outside. I didn’t check the inside though. Outside you sit nicely and with a good view of the town plaza. Finally the food was really good. It was presented well and tasted good. I definitely recommend going to...
