As soon as we sat down before even getting a hello we were told to remove our water bottle off the table. Then we were left to sit for about 20 min (we made attempts to ask someone for service yet they ignored us). Once we got service we ordered some drinks and bitterballen, we got the bitterballen however without any sauce (I understand this can happen when it’s busy) we asked for the mustered which seems to have rather annoyed the waitress. Then we waited… and waited before just deciding to eat the food during which time we also got given our drinks. After we paid and were getting up to leave we received mayonnaise which was too late and not what we asked for… I really don’t want to sound rude but for the price and nice looking interior we really didn’t expect to be treated as if we were merely a nuisance to the staff. Not to mention that in the evening my partner and I had issues with our stomachs. All in all wouldn’t...
Read moreThe behavior of the female security guard last night was extremely rude. I just approached her to ask whether their kitchen was still open, and she responded with, “What are you doing here?”😳 I kept telling her I just had a question and asked her to simply answer it, but she insisted on seeing my ID. Was my question really that difficult to answer that she needed to check my ID? Then she said she needed to search my bag. I asked, “Why my bag?” She said, “If you want to go inside, I have to check your bag.” I told her, “I never said I wanted to go inside. I just asked if the kitchen is open so I could sit on the terrace if it is.” She kept us at the entrance for about 15 minutes, while we saw that the other security guards weren’t behaving like this at all. We ended up leaving because of her bad attitude. This woman clearly has a problem. I’m really...
Read moreWe have eaten this restaurant/pub in the Grote Markt every time we have come to Groningen. We have family living in this lively university town in the North of Groningen province. The spare ribs (see photo) are the best I have tasted anywhere on my travels (including Ibiza and London). The atmosphere is lively and friendly, with good music and bright bubbly conversation - friends and families enjoying each other's company. There is a good selection of food, wine and beer and the decor is beautiful- with soft 'leather' seats, booths, and a long long table in the middle as well as lots of tables for when the weather is good enough. If you are fortunate enough to spend some time in this lovely historical town please treat yourself to a visit to De Drie Gezusters for a coffee, a beer or a meal. You will be...
