Grand Café Hooghoudt — Restaurant in Groningen

Came in for lunch with a friend, as stated on the menu there was an iced coffee option so we ordered an iced latte to which the response we received was a blunt “no”, with no explanation as to why. We then asked for oatmilk or any non lactose milk option to which again we received a response of a chuckle and smirk with a solid “no”. Made us feel like we were being laughed at. No eye contact was made with us throughout the order. Before moving onto ordering our food, we were instructed to take our water bottle off the table as “this is not a picnic place”. I have visited with family several times, generally it is a good experience. The personnel are very nice and attentive. Their coffee is always satisfying. About the food, it can be a bit of a hit or miss situation, let me elaborate. The food by itself isn't bad but there are certain components that don't make it good, for example bread that has been so toasted that it damages the roof of your mouth or in our occasion they couldn't eat it at all, or too much filling and hard toasted bread that it was impossible to eat and all the insides fell out. 3x is scheepsrecht. Niet meer wat het geweest is. 3x Slechte bediening ervaring gehad.

1. Ooit keer alleen geweest en tafel binnen aan het raam gevonden (4 a 5 personen), zonder reservering. Of ik aan een andere tafel plaats wou nemen omdat de tafel te groot was voor 1 persoon, ze hadden liever een groepje. Prima, geaccepteerd. Uiteindelijk andere tafel achteraf aangewezen gekregen, bleek ook een 4 persoons tafel te zijn. Aangegeven. "ow ja sorry dat is waar maar wilt u daar toch heen verhuizen." Personeel had gewoon eerlijk moeten zijn en aangeven dat ze bij het raam liever volle bezetting hebben.

3. laatst ook nog eens buiten op terras volledig glas bier over mijn rug heen. personeel (jonge dame en jonge heer) waren behulpzaam bij het aanreiken van doeken, excuus aangeboden. Zelf bij dame en heer om wat korting of rondje van de zaak gevraagd, werd wat om gelachen ."hehe weet niet of dat kan" "he he weet het niet, moeten we even vragen" vervolgens kameraad bij afrekenen nogmaals bij dame in kwestie beklag gedaan en om stukje coulance gevraagd, niets van dit alles "nee kunnen we niet doen sorry".
