We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 1st anniversary, and it was completely wrong decision. I still can’t believe we paid for food that contained plastic debris. The service was absolutely terrible and rude.
Compensation for a cup of tea?
We ordered the papaya salad and a chicken fry set. Near the end of our meal, I bit into a piece of plastic. It was small enough that I could have swallowed it, which could have caused stomach pain or even damage to my pancreas.
When I complained about the plastic, the waitress simply said thank you for telling and walked away—without even apologizing. I was shocked by the lack of an apology. Five minutes later, the bartender came over and offered to make new food. Since we had already finished eating, he asked what else he could offer. I asked for mango sticky rice, but he scoffed and said it was too expensive and told us to pick something cheaper. He said he could offer tea instead.
I refused because I didn’t want to eat any more food from a kitchen that serves plastic-contaminated meals. I asked for a deduction in the price of the dish that contained plastic, but they refused, saying tea was the only compensation they could offer. I declined, and he left.
When I insisted that this wasn’t a proper apology, he defensively responded that offering tea was their way of apologizing. Eventually, as we were about to pay, he came back and said they could offer mango sticky rice after all—but still refused any price reduction. By that point, I was extremely disappointed. I didn’t want to eat anything else from that kitchen, especially given their unapologetic attitude and lack of proper compensation. Consuming that plastic could have put me at serious risk, but they didn’t seem to care.
I did not pay €65 to be treated this way. We are not beggars asking for free food! Why would they think offering more food compensates for serving unsanitary food in the first place? Why should I pay for food that contained plastic? Did I come here to buy plastic-contaminated food? Their sense of customer service is fundamentally flawed. We will never return.
Read moreJust.....wow! Found this through The Fork app and decided to make a reservation because we love Thai food. I can tell you: we were NOT disappointed! I have never eaten Thai food so close or even better than the original anywhere.
Super clean open kitchen with nothing but fresh ingredients strewn around, exceptionally nice and accommodating personnel who will go out of their way to help you pick the right combination of dishes. Don't go for the set menu: ask for advice and get a table full of goodies that you can enjoy for hours on end.
Thai food needs to be served at the same time and enjoyed bite by bite across all dishes: they understand this here. I am so taken away by this place: everything was fresh, true to the original and not necessarily adapted to Western tastes: you will get the real Thai deal! This may have been the high point of my culinary experience in 2020. It reminds me of my trips to Asia. Thanks to all at Cho Fah Eat Thai for the best experience, the kindness, the service and making our evening one to remember! I...
Read moreComparing with other Thai restaurants in the city, this one offers very good food, and does so with the kind of friendly welcoming service that you would expect from anything to do with Thailand (one of the friendliest countries anywhere).
However, the interesting menu is not what one who has been to Thailand, or experienced Thai expat restaurants in other countries, would expect. The ingredients and flavours of the food are indeed Thai, but the dishes and presentation are not.
Having said that, it should be stressed that this is not simply a relabelled Chinese or Indonesian restaurant - it is Thai!
I went there in a party of eight people. The service was attentive and friendly. They catered well for the dairy-free and vegetarian members of the party, both on the menu and by adjusting individual dishes where necessary. In other words, the food was freshly prepared.
We had an enjoyable evening and I would gladly repeat...
