MAHALO — Restaurant in Groningen

I am really really disappointed after today’s visit in Mahalo. We gave so many chances to this small cute cafe but the service is unfortunately the worst we have experienced in Groningen so far. Every single visit i had to order inside since nobody came to our table for a looong time (today record 20 minutes) and after waiting for another 20 minutes to get our drinks, we found that the order got even lost and nobody wondered why we don’t have drinks for almost 45 minutes? Despite the good intention of the super kind personeel, this cafe is highly unprofessional and amateur. There is almost always an extreme long waiting for the food (despite not many customers at the place), the menu is very limited and stayed quite the same for about 1.5-2 years now. Outside there’s a great view to the park but on cold/rainy days, the sitting inside upstairs in the small space is quite awkward and tight (no music even in the background). I’d consider this place a gem of Groningen. It overlooks the park and has healthy-sounding options (many veg and vegan!). Their drinks’ portions are very good, though Latte was on the lighter side of taste and I won’t recommend the Dirty Chai. Lavender Cake was good too (it’s a dense cake with a bit of very-sweet white frosting and a few lavender buds sprinkled on the top).
