I’m not quite sure where to start.
First, we arrived 15 minutes after opening and the music was blasting like a night club. They turned it down.
It’s clear these people mean well; but glaringly obvious that none of them have any restaurant experience.
Here’s a run down:
We were told the pizza oven would take 10 minutes to heat up, and then 5 minutes later told it would take 20.
My partner ordered an appetizer and a main and received both at the same time; while my pizza took so long he was finished eating his meal by the time I got mine.
The waiter poured us both full glasses of wine from the bottle we ordered before asking us if we wish to taste it for “proof”
The chef came out to both pour glasses of wine and take cash, all while wearing the same gloves he was using for cooking.
Our half finished plates sat for 20 minutes even as chef / waiter cleared the empty table next to us, never bothering to ask if there was anything more we would like - a bad way to run a business as we possibly would’ve ordered more.
My partner ordered a pasta dish with mussels and received clams.
The prices on the menu were not accurate to the bill we received.
The staff could tell we were not pleased with our dishes yet carried on as nothing was wrong.
This doesn’t account for the fact the ingredients were sub-par for food way overpriced to its level of quality. It had no real flavour and the salami was the same grade as that of a plus brand frozen pizza. They have clearly decided to cheap out on ingredients while keeping the price the same.
Please know I wish this business the best; but, if they hope to survive I would recommend they learn the very basics of service, quality, and cleanliness.
I’m aware they changed ownership recently from other reviews so can only assume this is why the stars do not match reality.

you can deny the bad service and insinuate that I’m lying all you’d like but I know what I experienced and I stand by what I said.
It seems there’s a pattern of you responding to all negative reviews with only denial, which is also very unprofessional.
Also you have not been doing this 6 years from what I am aware you are new owners and therefore you are not the ones who built the original papi name and I would implore you to do better not to tarnish the business that they built.
And sorry the salami quality is deplorable. Don’t claim top quality...

So they said the only spare table would be nearby the toilet and invited us to take a look and decide whether we wanted to have dinner there or not. We decided to stay since I had such a big craving for pizza. The waiter brought us the menu so I picked the pizza I wanted and waited excitedly for him to take our orders. So he came and asked what I was having and I told him I wanted a pizza calzone. He looked at me and said that I had made a very stupid choice because people don't eat pizza in the summertime. He also said it was going to take a very long time for me to get my order if I decide to stick to pizza and suggested that I take something else. I wanted to leave but decided to stay, since I didn't want to stress my husband. So I ordered the Risotto with pesto and shrimps. The food looked good when it was served, but when I tasted it I was shocked because it was very tasteless. I saw what seemed like pesto, on my risotto but I could not taste it. My husband also tried my risotto and said "it's bland and tasteless". When the waiter came around to ask how the food was I told him that it was bland so he gave me pizza seasoning and dried chill flakes and said it's prepared like that because the people of the Netherlands can't deal with spicy food. On a whole, the food was just not delicious. My husband had his go to dish Saltimboca ala romana which he rated as average. I would never go back...
Read moreOrdered a Melanzane and a Pizza with my partner here and have to say that not only was the Pizza COLD when it arrived here but the Melanzane was the most gross and disappointing presentation ever. It was delivered in a silver tray with 2 thick UNDERCOOKED slices (!!!!!) of eggplant, DRENCHED in salty tomato sauce and POWDERED (!!) parmigiana cheese, completely BLAND and for 9.50EUR!!!
I contacted the restaurant after I received my order to let them know that unfortunately this was not the first time we had a bad experience with their food and requested my money back.
Roxanna from the restaurant told me she would let her manager know and took down my number to get a call back within 30mins. We are a day later and I never got called back. I left a review on the food delivery site explaining my dissatisfaction to which someone responded "Dana this is not the case. thank you". Way to take your customer feedback seriously and call them back like promised! Understandably there seems to be no passion in the kitchen nor in their management either which gets reflected in their food and quality of service.
Please do yourselves a favour and AVOID this place if you appreciate good quality dishes and excellent customer service. This place is unfortunately very far from that.
What a disgrace for Italian food. Luckily there are PLENTY of OTHER incredible Italian restaurants nearby in Haarlem that understand common courtesy and appreciate Italian cuisine unlike this place. We will never be ordering from here or coming to this...
