This is a review for the Saturday Market De Dolfijn stall: The man (owner of the company) is a crook.

He throws the fish on the scale, cleans it, throws a lemon which he makes sure to call out as an extraordinary gift.

At the end he comes up with an inflated total amount. I kept calculating while he was scaling the fish before evisceration and kept the subtotal.

He called out something like €65. In my numbers I was around €40-45. After confronting him he obviously hadn't had anything written down and was embarrassingly faking some hand written calculations to prove these were facts.

He rounded up to €55 and I'm sorry I didn't insist for a proper, correct calculation as not to keep others in line. I didn't knew what I didn't like about the interactions on every weekend when I paid this guy. Now I know, I didn't like the fact that he is...

While in Haarlem make sure to stop by and try some popular Dutch snacks. We tried the Haring (raw herring topped with pickles and onions) and Kibbeling (fried cod fish with tartar sauce). Both snacks were fantastic! This outdoor stand has a deli style ordering process. Walk up to the glass case and when it’s your turn tell them your order, wait a few minutes and enjoy! Vreselijk. Ik heb daar ooit een broodje gebakken garnalen besteld. Na het broodje op te hebben heb ik een intens angstaanjagende allergische reactie gekregen waarna ik vervolgens met spoed naar de 1e hulp moest. Ik eet mijn hele leven lang garnalen dus deze reactie was vanzelfsprekend erg onverwachts. Ik heb mij vervolgens op allergie laten testen met als uitslag : niet allergisch voor vis noch garnalen. (Verder heb ik ook helemaal geen allergieën). Ik heb allergie pillen meegekregen mocht het nog eens voorkomen. Ik heb heel lang geen garnalen durven te eten. Langzaam en beetje bij beetje durfde ik weer een garnaal mee te smikkelen van iemand, tot eergisteren. Eergisteren heb ik in een restaurant een een garnalen pasta besteld.. garnalen saus, garnalen er doorheen etc. Met mijn allergie pillen bij de hand natuurlijk. GEEN enkele reactie. Geen benauwdheid, zwellingen, nauwe ademhaling. De allergietest bleek dus juist, ik ben niet allergisch voor garnalen. Ik heb het een en ander op gezocht en het is dus zo. Dat als je vis en garnalen eet die bedorven zijn, (want dat gaat redelijk snel met vis als dit niet goed bewaart wordt) je een hele heftige allergische reactie kan krijgen, en die reactie kan alleen maar erger worden. Mijn conclusie? Ze hebben me bedorven garnalen gegeven. Mijn ervaring ik had wel dood kunnen zijn. Verschrikkelijk.. wat meer zorgvuldig omgaan met het eten dat wordt verkocht mag dus wel.
