Heel erg leuk! Very nice cat cafe, the owners and staff are friendly and approachable. Contrary to a lot of other cat cafes (I've been to a few in different countries now), the food and drink here is actually good!! They have a diverse menu with both savoury sandwiches and cakes, so if you need a proper lunch you can come here too. Of course they also have apple cake (appeltaart!).
There are clear rules for the 7 cats in the café so you know who likes what and you can quickly figure out their personalities anyway by observing and interacting with them. The cats are very sweet.
There are plenty of sleeping places for the cats, nice ladders and walkways and they can go to their private room when they need a break. But when I was there, all the cats were around. They are healthy and happy, one of them was playing a lot so you know they're at ease here.
Also, it's super clean! And there's a relaxed atmosphere. There's also a small shop and you can buy some unique and handmade cat items (like a makeup brush with a cat paw pattern!). Tucked away in a cute street in the city centre, you might not pass by this place randomly if you're new in town, so make sure to star on your map because it's worth the very small detour. Het is hier...
Read moreWe love coming here; we visit every year on our way home to England. They do nice food (much better than any cat cafe in England we have found) with home made soup, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and lovely cakes! The apple pie was particularly good 😀Of course, the best bit is the cats! It is a lovely home for them, their wellbeing is obviously paramount and they have loads of high perches and walkways (as well as a “withdrawing room” 🤣) for when they are feeling less sociable. You book online, and have 90mins for your slot, which keeps the numbers down for the cats’ comfort but also lets other people enjoy it. The staff are universally lovely, chatty and helpful, and know everything about what each cat likes and dislikes. (Thanks of course for speaking English to us hopeless Brits!) Oh, and as a last minute present stop (maybe for the neighbour who has been looking after your cats?) it is great, with all sorts of cat themed gifts. A lovely place for a stop before the ferry home to Newcastle. See...
