Apart from how bad the food was, an employee working in the kitchen who went to the toiled before me did not even wash his hands.
Basically looking for a drink in Hoofddorp we ended up in la Cubanita. They have cocktails on the menu so we gave it a chance. We ordered a sex on the Beach and a Dutch tropical, both are sugary sweet cocktails that have other flavour but the sugar syrup.
As hunger struck, the menu was requested, but fearing the all you can eat menu we decided to order a few tapas. They are 3,50 each which is very cheap for a tapas restaurant.
Without having elevated expectations we received the batatas fritas. These for sure cannot be called batatas bravas, maybe batatas tristes or batatas decepcionadas. No flavor, no spice nothing. The croquetas de quesso have probably more flour in the inside than the crunch contains on the outside. This is probably made by mixing the sweat of cheese with flour, breading it and frying it. The chicken skewers are probably made out of chicken beaks, not tasty and a nasty bite. I couldn't figure out what the quesadillas were made of, it was crispy something with something on the inside, but truly beats me. The hamburguesitas were supposed to be spicy burgers, but it just tasted like minced meat. The pan tostado was chewy old bread, and the salmon way too salty. The chicken pasta salad was so drenched with mayonnaise that we had no clue what was in it.
We mentioned that everything was incredibly bad, but apparently this is the standard of the chain and what you get at low budget. Having a reasonable calculations if you eat here the amount paid adds up and is not a low budget dinner. Literally everything is...
Read moreWent to this restaurant with colleagues instead of the Indian restaurant because this was empty (no eaters) at around 17:45. Never been to La Cubanita and this just looked very inviting with quite a number of guests.
The waiters were patient explaining to us the ordering system and process; each person is allowed to order 2 dishes every 10 minutes until the kitchen closes which at 22:00. We found out that this is a kind of “all you can eat system”, drinks are not included. As it happened to be “November, Cocktail month”, these are only €4.- 🤩
The tapas dishes are small and I must say, very delicious and well plated! And a lot of varieties to choose from.
We recommend and will certainly be back to try the other dishes… —-
Edit 29 May 2025: We went again this evening for the second time. It was a last minute booking and the place was packed and indeed quite noisy this time. The young personnel were kind and patient explaining the system.
We tried different dishes and the sea food tapas was surprisingly good.
We ordered cocktails and saw that the glas was bigger that the last time when it was “November cocktail month €4.-“ and now prized at €6.-
We still liked the place and the food and will certainly be...
Read moreWe came here for a birthday celebration on a Sunday evening. It was our first time coming here and we didn't know about the ordering process via your phone. Only 2 phones maximum are allowed per table, and we were 9 people. Everything went well with the orders made on the first phone, but the system got blocked on the second phone and we ended up losing about 30 minutes of our ordering time. The manager handled the situation very well and found a way to compensate. After that everything went very well with the food. It was delicious and came quickly. The drinks orders weren't as fast as the food came, we waited 30 minutes on one round of 2 drinks. For us the atmosphere was too busy, chaotic and stressful and the background music too loud. The staff looked very stressed too. Having said that I think it was a very good price to quality ratio, but they could possibly offer two start times in the first session, maybe 15-30 minutes apart for example example, so everything runs a bit smoother. Knowing all this I would still recommend la Cubanita and I would go...
