I have to admit I've never been to India, nor visited tons of Indian restaurants. I do know one thing however..... I definitely love the food they're serving here!
The restaurant is located at the Harderwijk waterfront and has a terrace with an impressive view during sunset. The inside of the restaurant is simple, yet cozy. Due to faulty reservations at our "first pick" we had to look for food in the vicinity and came across Mamta. We asked if they still had a table for four left, and fortunately (although the restaurant and terrace were completely packed) they managed to squeeze us in with a smile. They did warn is for long waiting times however, which was understandable with the huge amount of guests. We happily accepted the table and after a few minutes a friendly waiter came to take our orders.
As expected, it took a decent amount of time (almost two hours) before our main-courses arrived. But we weren't really bothered by this fact due to our tasty starters, snacks in the form of crispy papadums, good company and a couple of drinks. Even though it was really busy, waiters stopped regularly to ask if we were alright and if we would like another drink. Nice service! Once the main courses arrived we all loved them! The vindaloo I ordered was quite spicy for Dutch standards (I handle spicy food pretty well due to an Indonesian influences in our family, and this dish was nearing the max I could handle) and really tasty. My girlfriend (who can be picky with Eastern/Asian food) really enjoyed her chicken masala too. Our guests had different curries and in the end we pretty much shared all our food. Simply delicious!
To sum it up, the four of us walked away totally satisfied. =) We'll definitely return, because during our wait we saw like a dozen delicious looking dishes we just have to try! ;) So, see you...
Read moreI had visited this restaurant today with my husband and we were hugely disappointed. We went in search of good and authentic Indian food but to our dismay the food was utterly bad. They served us tea without straining it. We had ordered samosa plate but the samosa were stale and oil was dripping from the samosa. The oil formed a pool in the plate and it was served in a very untidy way. The filling inside was old and stale. When we informed this to the manager, he was extremely rude and asked if this was our first time visiting any restaurant in the Netherlands because as per him all restaurants in Netherlands serve samosa that are 1 week old so per him it was pretty normal that they served us stale food. We thought may be the starters are frozen but hopefully they will serve good main course. But it was a continual dismay as they added uncooked red Chilli powder to make the curry spicy. This caused us extreme acidity attack. They don't even realize that uncooked Chilli powder can be extremely bad for someone's health. They were quite unapologetic about the whole matter and it did not even matter to them that the customer had such a bad experience. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone solely for health reasons and bad...
Read moreI’m so sad that we threw our money away by choosing this restaurant!! If some one has been in an Indian restaurant before, would know this is not a real Indian taste at all! Even you cannot find another category for their taste! For 100% I can tell that the taste and cooking quality was so poor!!! All of our rice were uncooked!!! They added color on the foods!!! And concerning serving, servant were not trained that they should set the table by theirselves and shouldn’t give the plate and cutlery to you for putting in front of you! They were friendly but that is not enough for being a good restaurant! It took over an hour to get our appetizer and much longer to receive our food!! Totally a negative experience! And my friends who were trying Indian cuisine for the first time, would never go Indian restaurant again as they had such a terrible experiance in...
