Restaurant Kokyo — Restaurant in Heerenveen

Had dinner there, first time i visited Kokyo Restaurant and went there because of the multitude of 4-star reviews. Now, i am a person who has had sushi all over the world so maybe my standard is a bit high, although i don't think so.

Honestly, i was just not impressed at all. Sushi wise there is not that much variety. Portions and ingredients are suspiciously small. And most of the meat dishes that we ordered were not nice and juicy, but tough and hard to chew. One plus: dessert is included in the all you can eat deal, usually it is not. It all tasted ok, nice even, but it was not exceptional or that special.

The venue is kinda dark and we probably had the worst table in the restaurant. I wonder why there is not a terras outside, because that would be just gorgeous right at the water. Maybe something about permits.

I am not a big consumer of alcohol but i do appreciatie a good cocktail. But the Mojito was unfortunately one of the worst i have ever had, wayyyy to sweet and not refreshing at all.

My dinner companion was having his first experience with Sushi, and he seemed to really enjoy everything. So i decided at the spot that i would not make a comment about the food or the cocktails.

Serving was quick, the young ladies seemed very nice, but not very communicative. Just a quick put down of the dishes and that is it. We never got asked if everything was to our liking, but nobody was rude or unpleasant either. So, 3...

Edited my review since the last time I went it was not such a good experience anymore. Used to be my favorite sushi place, and it's not like it's a bad restaurant but the quality has sure gone downhill and the price way up from what it used to be. Atmosphere is still great but I feel like the food is slathered in sauces to cover up for the not so hot food. I went when it was not busy at all, and even then the food was not hot when it got to our table, I feel like ever since the new menu the restaurant changed in a not so positive way. Still not a bad restaurant but for the price i'd rather go somewhere else that also mathes in quality for the price they ask. I hope in the future Kokyo will go back to the same quality I...

Een nieuw sushi restaurant in het midden van Heerenveen. Gelegen in het centrum, Kokyo is een mooie nieuwe aanwinst voor dit dorp.

Het restaurant is nog maar net begonnen en het is dus logisch dat het personeel nog iets moet wennen aan het gehele concept. Al met al staan zij met een lach op hun gezicht te bedienen en kun je altijd op hun rekenen.

Het eten is subliem, met veel verschillende sushi en warme gerechten. Een uitgebreide keuken met veel opties. Je kan van alles kiezen en met 5 gerechten per ronde ben je er zeker van dat je nooit teveel besteld.

Qua dranken heeft Kokyo ook een ruim assortiment. Van fris naar een uitgebreide wijnkaart naar een groot bier assortiment (met echte Japanse bieren) en natuurlijk de likeuren. Waarbij voor ons de warme Sake de ware favoriet is.
