San Leo - Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in Hilversum

From the menu this seemed like a rare authentic Italian restaurant in Hilversum but once the food arrived it was clear that whoever made this had never set foot in Italy in their lives. Not that being Italian is required to good good Italian food, but this was just bad nonetheless. That might also explain why the place was empty on a Saturday night. On one hand, the best dish we tried (tagliatelle with pesto) just wasn't better than what most people could cook at home but on the other hand, the worse (pizza Napoletana) was straight up inedible. I'd say avoid this as well as all other Italian restaurants...

Italian food but more of the delivery kind. There was nothing standing out on the menu and even though Italian it just wasn't there; there is nothing that other places don't offer, there is no fine dining but mostly large portions for a cheap prize. I wasn't bothered by the inexperienced service, it seems to fit the establishment and the waitresses were quite young so it was to be expected.

Would I recommend it? Not really. I had expected more love for cooking; fresh ingredients, fresher pasta, smaller dishes with more care for flavour rather than large portions of pasta...

Always wanted to try this restaurant as I drive by it every day on my way to work. I was not disappointed. The reception was friendly and welcoming, the interior was cozy. The menu could satisfy the most avid lover of italian cuisine. We had a pizza and a pasta which were both excellent, portions were generous. The desserts also did not disappoint.
