Moana Poké — Restaurant in Leiden

The juice we bought was good, the green juice, although strangely a bit sweet.. but tasty- but the poke bowls we ordered unfortunately not.

My husband ordered the California poke bowl with salmon 🍣 and said it was mediocre and overpriced. We go to poke places a lot so I’m inclined to agree!

My poke bowl was one of the vegan options, with tofu . I added some tempeh and avocado to it. My bowl was super disappointing. The pineapple in the bowl was from a can. Really gross! There is a big difference between fresh and canned pineapple … The chickpeas also tasted straight from a can. The broccoli in it was overcooked. Then the tofu was absolutely dry and flavorless it really could have used some sauce. I’m glad I got some extra avocado so the bowl was not so dry. But I only ate max half of it. Pity of a pricey bowl! Plenty of poke boel places in Leiden , I’m going to those next time. Maybe in the future I won’t so easily trust a poke bowl place not run...

Been coming here for my poke, about once every 2 weeks for the past 3 years, mainly for the convenient location.

THIS PLACE IS A 50/50 GAMBLE.

Half the time you will get a great, full and flavourful poke served by truly lovely employees.

The other half, you will pay for it and only after be told that your selected protein (salmon, probably the most common poke choice) is not available and you'll be offered chicken instead. You'll be given rice warm enough to cook whatever fresh ingredient you picked. And all of it served by girls who so clearly do not care to be there - I get it, but you don't need to show it to the client...

The lack of consistency is a shame, cause when they do good, they do really good. But when they do not, it's really not worth the...

The juice was actually nice, but the food was no more than mediocre. My poke bowl tasted bland although I ordered red peppers (maybe because that wasn't added and the gave me tomatoes instead...).

But the real problem in this place is the hygiene. Just look at all the doors the staff touches before they make your meal and if that's not enough, visit the toilets: stains everywhere, don't dare to lift the toilet seat and look underneath, no soap, no way I'm touching that tap.
