This is one of my favorite museum in the Netherlands. However…. Today the young lady at tickets office (wear white clothe) made me and my daughter very very disappointed.

We arrived the museum at 15:22 (I took the photos and videos afterward, so I know the exact time) the reason I wrote down this time is because after I scanned our museum card and asked the ticket for the workshop for ‘Crafty body’ for my daughter, the young lady told me, we were late for that. Then, I also told her that I search for the website the workshop closed at 16:30 and last time slot is 15:30-16:30. Then, she checked the time and told me:sorry! helaas.

Then, the very kindly lady (older and very kindly) gave me the ticket for the workshop and let me hurry up to go to the place.

With my daughter, I put our stroller at the corner of locker room and walk to the place. I saw the young lady again. Again, she told me, we were late, we just arrive at the last minute. Because today is Sunday, they will close 30 mins earlier!

I really felt very sorry about this and I did not say anything, I just let my daughter to finish her work as quicker as possible.

Then, when we went back to home, I have time to check the official website with Dutch and English again.

They did not mentioned Sunday will close 30 minutes earlier and for sure, our enter time was before 15:30!

So, here I want to let everyone, specially the manager of the museum to see my comments: The young lady who is watching her mobile phone and laughing loudly when we left. Does she really like or love this job? If not, please let the people who has more patient to do that. Also, what I felt is really unfriendly. Maybe because we are Asian people, or, because we came around 15:22. Also please make clear time schedule to every staffs. As what I mentioned, I read the explanation from your official website. And what I understand, I am allow to go for the workshop even I...

Great museum with an impressive historic science collection. Marvel at original microscopes from Anthonie van Leeuwenhoek, old globes, medical history as well as anatomy specimens, the work done by Christaan Huygens (pendulum clock, physics, astronomy),... Along the way there are several fun activities for kids. Staff is kind and helpful. My daughter often finds one of the knowledgeable volunteers around to answer her questions (or bring her into contact with someone who can). Ideal for curious kids and adults alike!

Tips for parents with younger children: The anatomic theatre show can be a bit overwhelming for smaller children. It is best to go upstairs (stairs outside the anatomic theatre, if you walk around they are located at the back) and watch it from above. Here it is easier to watch or not watch if it is too much for them, and in the latter case they have space to walk around and can still enjoy the lights on the floor, walls and ceiling. There is an inner courtyard with a water playground where children can build dams, play with boats, test out Archimedes spiral etc. You can sit either in the sun or the shade there and bring food/drink from the shop or from home if you please. Sure to make for a relaxing...

It is quiet interactive and very organized. Upon entering, the receptionists are both very friendly and easy to talk to with clear english and they have good dels for students. Both of them offered a solution for collections that are only available in dutch which is to lend you a tablet. There is also a wardrobe for free and locker that makes the tour very convenient. There is a cafeteria after the lobby which is nice for those who want to grab a coffee after seeing the whole upper deck of the museum. The anatomy part is quiet amazing and I really loved it. It is very informative, clear and advanced. I am sure many students learned a lot from it. The part of Boerhaave introduced him in such a way that people would remember him as a man of 3 expertise. The innovation and medical part caught much of my attention because it is very interactive. I really liked it. I would go back here probably when they...

Very educational! Reading everything take at least two and a half hours, quick browse may take a bit less than two hours. There's a temporary exhibition about female and other race people (other than caucasian) body are less studied in medical research, and thus lead to unequal treatment and diagnose. There're other general knowledge about science, history and development of medicine and physiology. However most part is pretty hard to understand by children, this is more a museum for people who already have some knowledge in general science. The science museum in Amsterdam may be more suitable for children with more interacting facility that children can learn by trying and playing. They sell colorful books that contain information showed in the museum (have both Netherlands and English version). You can basically bring the museum home!

An interesting museum. Part of the exposition is devoted to archaeology. Various fossils of marine animals, fish and land animals are shown. Part 2 of the exposition is devoted to the development of science and technology of the golden period of the Dutch sea expeditions. And part 3. permanent exhibitions are an art gallery where paintings by different authors and different periods of the Golden Age are collected. Museum galleries with a glass dome are particularly impressive. All the museum exhibits were collected by the person whose name the museum bears. It is difficult to call this museum conceptual, so 4 stars.
